Provides basic health services for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families in Southwest Virginia. Offers many services on a sliding scale to migrant and seasonal farmworkers. The MHN outreach workers identify health problems and assist farmworkers to obtain health care at one of our clinical partners centers.

The Community Health Education Center provide information on general health topics, cancer and women's and family health. CHEC welcomes anyone with questions on any health topic. CHEC has print books and magazines, internet access, video viewing and a children's area. CHEC has materials for all ages and all reading levels. CHEC staff can help users find need information.

Offers a national network of peer support and education to help those with pain improve their quality of life. Provides videos and a website with information for those with pain; their caregivers; doctors and other professionals. Does not substitute for medical or other professional services. The Division of Health Statistics (DHS) collects, compiles and reports vital statistics data. This includes data on births, deaths, natural fetal deaths and induced terminations of pregnancies. The data are collected during vital records registration which assures high responses DHS also formats population data from the National Center for Health Statistics and the Census Bureau into reports by age, race, sex and ethnicity. The statistics are widely used by federal, state and local government as well as the private sector to analyze current and historical patterns and to forecast future needs. Government officials also use the data collected by DHS to establish baselines and to evaluate the effectiveness of programs they administer. These measurements help officials judge how well they are meeting their strategic plan. The DHS does a lot of collaborating with other group to develop comprehensive data bases.

Healthy Families provides voluntary, comprehensive home-visiting services that support at-risk expectant and new parents and help prevent poor childhood outcomes. Home visits are activity-based and focus on a variety of topics including healthy family functioning, family goal planning, maternal and child health, positive parenting strategies, child development, and school readiness. Home visitors also provide families with referrals to a wide array of community resources.

Provides health information and some screenings (including blood pressure)in the community or at work sites, churches, worksites and schools to help individuals with questions regarding a variety of health topics. Educational programs which focus on changing lifestyle behaviors are an important component of the program.

Provides environmental and health services for area residents. This includes well and septic permits, food safety inspections, family planning, STD treatments, immunizations, communicable disease investigations, HIV/AIDS testing, care and supportive services, and women, infants and children (WIC) nutrition services.

FARE works on behalf of individuals who have food allergies, including all those at risk for life-threatening anaphylaxis.

Nurse visits in rural JABA Community Centers and homebound settings in the Counties of Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa, Nelson and the City of Charlottesville. The health services staff and volunteers perform some medical screenings. Provides education about nutrition, safety, medications, mobility, hygiene, foot care, and exercise. They also help facilitate coordination with participants' doctors and caregivers if requested by patient.
