A 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in 1979. Serves to assess, identify, coordinate, plan and implement efficient and effective regional EMS delivery systems in partnership with Virginia's Office of Emergency Medical Services and EMS Advisory Board. Provides a wide range of services to promote our organizational mission and strategic plan that defines how we can best serve the diverse and unique needs of the regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system. Services include the development and implementation of a regional emergency medical service delivery system (through EMS system planning and coordination); EMS training; EMS testing; EMS grant assistance and review; information, referral, and technical assistance; coordination of the regional Critical Incident Stress Management team; and operation of a regional training equipment lending library.
Offers a wide variety of training courses in first aid, CPR, AED, life guarding, swimming, babysitting, care giving, and other areas for both individuals and organizations. Provides health and safety training that meets OSHA guidelines and many other professional and regulatory standards. Many self study classes are available online and you can also register for classroom courses.
The American Red Cross ensures that businesses and individuals have the training, knowledge and tools they need to take action before, during and after a disaster or emergency. We prepare the workplace though our First Aid/CPR trainings, AED sales and our Ready Rating programs. Programs for individuals include: First Aid/CPR classes, Aquatics programs and Red Cross mobile applications. Additionally, our Nurse Assistant Training (NAT) program provides participants with the knowledge and practice needed to become Certified Nurse Assistants. Provides all DMV defensive driving classes including Commercial Driver Improvement Clinic and Driver Improvement Clinic. Provides driver safety education to the community. Does not provide behind the wheel training. Offers Department of Transportation(DOT) and OSHA required training. Provides drug and alcohol testing. Offers First Aid/CPR classes. Provides consultation services to business on issues relating to safety.

Provides the community with an emergency medical planning and development facility. The Lord Fairfax Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. has been created to establish, operate, administer and maintain an Emergency Medical Services System which provides for the arrangement of personnel, facilities and equipment for the effective and coordinated delivery of emergency health care. Service area covers Planning District 7.

Provides health education information, coordinates fund-raising projects, and conducts cardiovascular education for professionals. Health education includes printed literature available for classes, schools, or at any organizations requesting it, in-school projects and programs, and speakers' bureaus. Provides training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation for doctors, nurses, hospital staff, public, rescue squad personnel, firemen and policemen through several training centers. American Red Cross provide certified classes in CPR, first aid, babysitting, HIV/AIDS and lifeguard and water safety. Taught by Red Cross volunteers to the public. There is no age requirement. The purpose of this program is train individuals to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems, sudden illness, and injury. All facilities are physically impaired accessible with notification, hearing and visually impaired can be accommodated and individually read the materials and tests.

The Northwest Medical Reserve Corps is a force of volunteers who stand ready to support the community in the event of a public health emergency. In emergencies, NWMRC volunteers provide the additional staffing needed to save lives by helping public health teams distribute medication and by offering medical and mental health care. The NWMRC also assists public health teams by helping reduce chronic diseases, assuring accessibility to health care and improving health literacy. As a volunteer, you'll receive training in public health, emergency and terrorism response, disaster mental health, CPR and first aid.
