Health and Safety Training - Halifax, American Red Cross
American Red Cross provide certified classes in CPR, first aid, babysitting, HIV/AIDS and lifeguard and water safety. Taught by Red Cross volunteers to the public. There is no age requirement. The purpose of this program is train individuals to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems, sudden illness, and injury. All facilities are physically impaired accessible with notification, hearing and visually impaired can be accommodated and individually read the materials and tests.

Provides an Emergency Medical Services Council whose function is to assess, identify, coordinate, plan and implement an efficient and effective regional EMS delivery system in partnership with the Virginia Office of EMS and the Virginia EMS Advisory Board. Serves the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Madison and the city of Charlottesville.

Provides a wide range of services to promote our organizational mission and strategic plan that defines how we can best serve the diverse and unique needs of the regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system. Services include the development and implementation of a regional emergency medical service delivery system (through EMS system planning and coordination); EMS training; EMS testing; EMS grant assistance and review; information, referral, and technical assistance; coordination of the regional Critical Incident Stress Management team; and operation of a regional training equipment lending library.

EMS - Staunton, Northwest Medical Reserve Corps
The Northwest Medical Reserve Corps is a force of volunteers who stand ready to support the community in the event of a public health emergency. In emergencies, NWMRC volunteers provide the additional staffing needed to save lives by helping public health teams distribute medication and by offering medical and mental health care. The NWMRC also assists public health teams by helping reduce chronic diseases, assuring accessibility to health care and improving health literacy. As a volunteer, you'll receive training in public health, emergency and terrorism response, disaster mental health, CPR and first aid.
The Northwest Medical Reserve Corps is a force of volunteers who stand ready to support the community in the event of a public health emergency. The Central Shenandoah EMS Council, Inc. (CSEMS) provides regional planning and educational services to the five cities and five counties, eleven towns and many public agencies within its boundaries. CSEMS's member localities are the cities of Buena Vista, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Staunton and Waynesboro and the counties of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge and Rockingham. CSEMS provides many EMS related services to a geographic area of 3,439 square miles with a population of over 278,000 making it the Commonwealth's largest planning district, geographically speaking, and fifth largest in terms of population. It is located along the I-81 & I-64 corridors in the Central Shenandoah Valley.
