EMS - Staunton, Northwest Medical Reserve Corps
The Northwest Medical Reserve Corps is a force of volunteers who stand ready to support the community in the event of a public health emergency. In emergencies, NWMRC volunteers provide the additional staffing needed to save lives by helping public health teams distribute medication and by offering medical and mental health care. The NWMRC also assists public health teams by helping reduce chronic diseases, assuring accessibility to health care and improving health literacy. As a volunteer, you'll receive training in public health, emergency and terrorism response, disaster mental health, CPR and first aid.

Application process
Membership in the Northwest Medical Reserve Corps requires the following: Completed volunteer application through the Virginia Volunteer Health System Copy of medical licensure and/or other credentials, as applicable Documented acknowledgement of Northwest MRC policies, including a basic SP-167 background check Volunteer Orientation and Initial Training. Maintaining up-to-date contact information in your Virginia Volunteer Health System account Once the initial orientation is completed, the Northwest MRC member will be able to attend a variety of required, recommended, and elective training opportunities/exercises that are offered during the year. Please take a moment to review our training schedule and events calendar, read our FAQ's and register to volunteer with the Northwest Medical Reserve Corps. We appreciate your time and interest, and we hope to work with you as an active Northwest MRC member in the near future!

The Northwest MRC is made up of what were previously three distinct units: the Central Shenandoah MRC (CSMRC), Lord Fairfax MRC (LFMRC), and Blue Ridge MRC (BRMRC).
