Literacy Volunteers - Prince William (LVA-PW) provides adult learners in Prince William County dignity, equity, and inspiration through the gift of literacy and health literacy. Mission success is achieved through holistic literacy, an innovative educational approach developed by and unique to LVA-PW. The approach encapsulates a broader understanding of literacy that encompasses both general English-based literacy skills with complex health-related information.

To teach adults the basic skills of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English so they can access employment and educational opportunities and more fully and equitably participate in the community.

The Life Enrichment Center (LEC) is a non-profit organization providing literacy tutoring and other life-giving initiatives for elementary students from Title I Schools across Virginia. Students reading below their grade level receive literacy-based computer lessons. Tutors are matched with one student, one hour a week, for the academic year. For Children K-2nd grade

Provides confidential tutoring and classes, including remote services, for adults, free of charge with a one-time registration fee, using trained instructors and volunteers. One-to-one tutoring is available for any adult who wants to improve his or her literacy ability. This program serves non-native English speakers. ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes are available for non-native English speakers. Offers five levels of English classes (Pre-Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Post-Advanced), as well as specialized classes and citizenship classes throughout the year.

Offers tutoring in basic literacy skills and English language for adults over the age of 18. Instruction is provided by trained volunteer tutors who meet with the adult students weekly at mutually convenient places and times.

This program provides training, digital access, new internet ready devices for seniors (age 60+), to help them connect to services (which are mostly online nowadays), stay engaged and be less isolated.
