Provides emergency housing support by phone in the form of past due rent or security deposits. Homelessness As part of the Valley Homeless Connection, RARA partners with area agencies to assist people experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to help with a long-term solution such as permanent housing, but we can provide a temporary motel voucher or transportation to a regional shelter. Rental Security/Utility Deposit Program To assist low income households to secure decent, safe and affordable housing by providing funding for the security and/or utility deposits for a rental housing unit approved by the Rental Housing division. For the purpose of this program, an individual is considered a household. Assistance is provided based on the availability of funding , and is provided one time only to eligible households. Optional Relocation Program To reduce the effect of financial hardships suffered by low or moderate-income tenants or owner occupants who are temporarily or permanently displaced from their housing unit by Code Enforcement or other city agency action due to unsafe and or hazardous living conditions. Assistance is provided based on the availability of funding and is provided one time only to eligible households. Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program To assist low income homeless families and/or those in imminent danger of becoming homeless to secure decent, safe and affordable housing by providing funding for vouchers to be utilized for rental housing units approved by the Rental Housing division. Initial voucher assistance is for twelve months and may be renewed one time for up to an additional twelve months subject to the availability of funding. Financial assistance can be provided for to rental deposits up to $250 when transitioning into permanent housing, and assisting with bus passes and employment equipment for the first 2 weeks of a new job. Provides street outreach and essential services to homeless individuals and families who meet the HUD definition of homelessness. Help with meds if not insured, once/month up to $100.

Rental Deposit Assistance
Provides security deposit assistance to a limited number of very low-income applicants. Provides up to $300. In collaboration with local housing counselors, social workers and churches or other referring agencies, processes the application for assistance, and upon verification of eligibility, mails the loan deposit to the new landlord. Repayments are 10 installments of $30 each.
Provides assistance to individuals and families struggling with an unexpected crisis or homelessness. Housing and budget counseling are major components of this assistance to help each client develop goals to work toward self-sufficiency. Financial assistance may include: rents and rental deposits and utility deposits and payments. Provides financial assistance to clients experiencing some kind of short-term crisis beyond their control, such as a serious accident, illness or injury; an unexpected job layoff, termination or reduction in hours; a loss of daycare or transportation that has affected a client's ability to work; or a delay in approved benefits.

Serves residents of Bristol, Virginia and Tennessee and Blountville, Bluff City, and portions of Piney Flats Tennessee. Informs residents of available community resources and may provide some financial resources to those who are experiencing a temporary financial crisis. Must meet eligibility requirements in order to receive assistance.
