The Domestic Violence Program (DVP) provides crisis and core services to victims of domestic violence and their children: 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, food, transportation, crisis intervention and supportive individual and group counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy, court accompaniment and systems advocacy.

Provides temporary emergency shelter for up to two months for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Maintains a 24 hour domestic violence hotline. Provides confidential domestic violence crisis intervention in the city of Fredericksburg, and the Counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline. Also offers support groups for women and children, Certified Batterer's Intervention Program for men and women charged with DV or assaulting their partners, and Court & Hospital Accompaniment/Advocacy.

Artemis House offers a safe, confidential location and supportive counseling to individuals and their children who are fleeing domestic and/or sexual violence, stalking, or human trafficking situations.

Family Crisis Services (FCS), a joint sexual and intimate partner violence program which provides direct support and advocacy services to victims and their families.. Offers an Education and Community Outreach Program, a Volunteer Advocate Program, a Shelter Program. These services include an 18-bed shelter, court advocacy and accompaniment; crisis counseling, safety planning and psycho-educational support groups for adults and children; a 24-hour hot line; groups for court-ordered men and women; specialized services for Spanish speaking victims; community education as well as training for allied professionals, staff and potential volunteers.

Emergency safe houses provide immediate shelter and protection to clients fleeing violent situations. These homes are at undisclosed locations across the region for the protection of clients. Clients typically reside in these homes for 30-140 days, depending on clients' individual needs.

Provides support and assistance to individual and families experiencing intimate partner violence including 24/7 hour hotline shelter, support groups, crisis intervention, and legal advocacy. First Step's Advocates can go with clients to offer moral support and help to create a safe space around them as they go through the process from getting a Protective Order through the court process.

Safe Harbor is a haven for individuals and families who need emergency housing and support services due to sexual and/or domestic violence. Safe Harbor provides temporary emergency housing, crisis intervention, court advocacy, counseling and support services.

Provides temporary emergency shelter for battered women and their children. Limited services are available to abused men who will be assisted in finding temporary housing. Services include: 24hr hotline for victims of domestic violence, individual counseling, self-help support groups, and education groups. Court accompaniment and social service advocacy are available.
