In partnership with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) and Henrico County, the Crisis Receiving Center (CRC) at St. Joseph’s Villa provides immediate help for youth in need of emergency behavioral health care, and their families.
Youth may stay at the CRC for up to 23 hours, during which time they are directly linked to the next appropriate level of care. The transition of care is a collaborative process. Our multidisciplinary team of nurses, clinicians, and mental health professionals actively connect youth and families to community-based services for follow-up treatment, and ensure a warm handoff by scheduling appointments, communicating closely with service providers, and tailoring referrals based on the individual’s and family’s specific needs and location.
All youth leave with a personalized Safety Plan, linkages to their local Community Services Board (CSB), and referrals that may include outpatient counseling, therapy centers, Villa in-home services, or the Villa’s nearby Crisis Stabilization Unit.
The CRC at St. Joseph's Villa is the first youth-specific facility of its kind in Virginia, offering a specialized alternative to hospital emergency departments and reduced waiting periods for service.
