To allow the resident to age with dignity and age in a place with a specially trained staff. Care for residents with cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and strokes, in addition to other forms of dementia. Residence will have 30 private rooms and 5 semi-private rooms for a maximum of 40 residents. The staff to resident ratio will be 1 to 8.

Provides confidential sexual and reproductive health services to teens, women, and men. Services available at all five New River Health District locations include education and counseling, physical exams, pap smears, pregnancy tests, testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, PReP, and a wide range of birth control options. Implants and IUDs - are available at each of the locations and can be inserted right on-site by clinicians. Birth control injections, pills, patches, rings, diaphragms, and condoms are also available.

Volunteer Prince William provides Disaster Preparedness training and education. Provide informational presentations and handouts on disaster preparedness to groups, organizations and individuals, including service organizations and houses of worship. The Disaster Services Coordinator will connect interested volunteers with organizations that serve the community in disaster recovery. Volunteer Prince William is a Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) member organization.

The general district court handles traffic violations, hears minor criminal cases known as misdemeanors, and conducts preliminary hearings for more serious criminal cases called felonies. General district courts have exclusive authority to hear civil cases with claims of $4,500 or less and share authority with the circuit courts to hear cases with claims between $4,500 and $25,000. Examples of civil cases are landlord and tenant disputes, contract disputes and personal injury actions.

Fostering Futures is a foster care program available to teens and young adults in foster care after they turn 18. This voluntary program allows your local department of social services (LDSS) to provide you with financial and social support and services until you are 21 years old. It can cover things like housing (with your foster parents, room and board at school, or supervised independent living when you are ready), education and/or job training assistance, and other independent living needs specifically for you.

LSNV provides services in a variety of substantive civil legal areas, including: family law, housing law, elder law, public benefits claims, access to health care, child advocacy, employment law, consumer law and AIDS/HIV issues. Staff and volunteers provide legal advice, brief service, and representation in administrative hearings and in court, as well as community legal education, and advocacy before local and state governmental entities, all without charge.

Mental Health Skill Building (MHSS) is a program for those individuals who suffer from mental illness and lack basic living skills, those who need connections to community resources and require help in managing their psychiatric symptoms. CCCS will develop individualized support plans that are specific to the client’s needs, a plan with an emphasis on managing psychiatric symptoms and establishing consistent medication management.

Assists veterans and their families in obtaining state, federal and local benefits to which they are entitled. Act as informed advocates in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims and serves as a clearinghouse providing information and assistance that will enhance the veteran's quality of life.

Provides safe emergency shelter throughout the New River Valley. Provides bus tickets/gas to get out of area shelters, case management, and information and referral to local programs. Temporary shelters include a two family house in Blacksburg called the Haven, a single-family house in Blacksburg called the Katharina von Bora Haus, a single-family mobile house in Christiansburg, and a single efficiency room in the Christiansburg/Shawsville area, and a single-family space in Christiansburg called the Father Scott House. The Shelter facilities available to date are established for short term housing (30-90 days).

Provides One Stop Center for integrated, user-friendly and responsive services to community of employers, workers and job seekers. Provides job service assistance including job matching, job referral and job information as well as unemployment insurance benefits. Also offers senior citizens various employment programs. Works in partnership with the community to provide various support services to individuals seeking employment. Services are open to the public.

Oxford House, Inc. is a network of self-run, self-supported recovery homes for members recovering from alcohol and substance abuse throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia (DC). We provide separate houses for men and women and some houses accept children with parent. When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House. All houses are near local transportation including buses and subways. Wheelchair accessibility varies by location.

Garden of Hope Adult Basic Education (ABE)program provides free instruction in all subjects covered on the General Education Development (GED)exam. This includes morning and evening classes, free books and materials, pretesting, practice GED tests, post-GED test guidance and a convenient testing center. This program is open to the public.
