Russell County Emergency Management plays many roles, including but not limited to: Emergency Planning, planning and Overseeing HazMat operations, coordinating with volunteer agencies (Salvation Army, American Red Cross, etc.), sheltering in times of emergency, coordinating with Fire Departments, EMS, and Law Enforcement agencies throughout the county, and coordinating with other local, state and federal agencies. Russell County Emergency Management is also responsible for maintaining a County Emergency Operations Plan.

Family planning clinic, on a sliding scale, is available for men and women. Services include a physical exam, a Pap smear, a check for sexually transmitted diseases, a discussion of birth control and treatment of minor vaginal disorders.

The Energy Assistance Program consists of three components: Fuel Assistance assists low-income eligible households by supplementing home energy costs. Applications are accepted the second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November. Crisis Assistance assists low-income households with energy related emergencies. Applications are accepted November 1st through March 15th. Cooling Assistance assists households in acquiring or repairing cooling equipment and /or payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment. Provides and promotes within county fiscal guidelines library materials and services that meet the individual interests and needs of the residents of Fauquier County. Special emphasis is placed on providing current, high-demand, high-interests materials in a variety of formats for all ages and on providing collections and services that encourage children and young people to develop an interest in reading and learning. Emphasis is also placed on providing informational materials and services to support personal interests, community interests and formal educational needs.

Provide free food boxes. We share donated food from individuals, groups, and stores. Families can also sign up children for Healthy Snack bags that go out each week when supplies allow.
