The first step in MEOC's Care Coordination and Options Counseling services. Handles all referrals for assistance made to MEOC and provides information about and referrals to other service providers. Receives referrals for assistance from many sources including older persons themselves, family members, neighbors, ministers, hospitals, home health agencies and others. Determines the needs of individual older persons and then links the person in need with the appropriate service(s). Visits the person, gathers information and assists in linking the person and the family with the services needed. MEOC staff are familiar with all community services, not just MEOC services, and link individuals to all services needed and available within the community.

Community health nurses and family case managers employed by CHIP work with the entire family to foster a nurturing, safe and healthful home environment. Connects the family with a myriad of services including assistance with obtaining a GED, job training, or literacy classes; guidance on effective parenting; information on nutrition and well-baby care; and transportation in the CHIP van if necessary.

Each woman can select a combination of clothing from the Clothing Closet with a volunteer as follows: Tops (Blouses, Sweaters, tanks, tees, etc.) Bottoms (slacks, jeans, skirts, etc.) Dress Women's Suit Accessory (shoe, purse etc. as available) *Each single mom will receive a combination of about 4 outfits.

The Energy Assistance Program consists of three components: Fuel Assistance assists low-income eligible households by supplementing home energy costs. Applications are accepted the second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November. Crisis Assistance assists low-income households with energy related emergencies. Applications are accepted November 1st through March 15th. Cooling Assistance assists households in acquiring or repairing cooling equipment and /or payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment. Operation First Response serves our nation's wounded, injured and critically ill active duty Service Members and Disabled Veterans and First Responders with personal and financial needs. Services are provided from the onset of injury, throughout their recovery period and along their journey into the civilian world. Financial aid varies as each case is based on individual needs ranging from rent, utilities, vehicle payments, groceries, clothing, and travel expenses.

The Child and Adult Care Food Program provides nutritious meals and snacks in daycare centers for children and adults and has been doing so for forty years. CACFP also provides meals and snacks to emergency shelters. The Summer Food Service Program is generally administered from the close of the school year through late August. Nutritious meals are provided to participants in these programs that are sponsored by public schools, parks and recreation center, etc.

Melrose Towers is a 215 unit HUD funded income based independent living facility for people age 62 or older and adults with disabilities. Offers studios, one bedroom units, laundry facilities, and five units that are wheelchair accessible.

Options Counseling is provided by individuals trained and practicing according to Virginia's Statewide Standards.

The Virginia Cancer Registry (VCR) is the state's cancer surveillance program. By state law, VCR receives reports of cancer from hospitals, clinics, independent pathology laboratories, and physicians. Information VCR collects describes the burden of cancer in Virginia. VCR supports programs and organizations statewide to promote cancer prevention, early detection, and successful treatment and care. The registry publishes statistical summaries of cancer incidence, responds to requests for information, and educates citizens, cancer professionals, and organizations around the state about cancer.
