A variety of programs offered to inner-city youth and families at no cost. The Y On Wheels is a mobile YMCA. The program provides fitness and nutrition based programs designed to teach principles and methods of healthy physical fitness to children. The project brings the YMCA programming, mission, and values to communities and neighborhoods that do not have access to a YMCA facility or programming. In collaboration with the Live Healthy Lynchburg Initiative the project reaches out to inner city communities by offering free outreach programs that are designed to provide the Y experience for children and families who cannot afford them. Other programs include: Bright Beginnings, Angel Tree, and Healthy Kids Day. Outreach Swim lessons offered to children from inner city neighborhoods. The program works with elementary schools to identify children who need swim lessons. We provide group lessons to 2nd grade students. We collaborate with Jubilee, The High Apartments and Boy's and Girl's Club.

Prior to completion of the program, a review is held utilizing input from the program individual, staff, families, advocates, funders, and other involved agency representatives to determine the potential for competitive employment, additional training, or the transition to other Goodwill programs. Employee Development and Training is offered to individuals living in the counties of Alleghany, Amherst, Appomattox, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Campbell, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, and Wythe, and the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, Galax, Lexington, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Radford, Roanoke, and Salem.
