Priority will be given to assisting rural caregivers, male caregivers, LGBTQ caregivers, Indigenous/Native caregivers and caregivers of people with dementia. Respite is short-term temporary care provided to someone with a disability, severe medical condition or special needs to temporarily relieve a family caregiver from that responsibility so they can rest, recharge and attend to their own care needs. Respite care can be for different periods of time, from a few hours to days or weeks.
