The Residential Program provides residential settings that range in levels of supervision, for deaf adults with mental illness who are in need of learning independent living skills. Its goals are to reduce or prevent hospitalization, to outplace deaf persons from institutions and to assist these persons to live and function within the community.

Habitat for Humanity builds and sells affordable housing to low- and moderate-income families. Construction or renovation of each Habitat house is a cooperative effort between volunteers, house sponsors and the buyer(s) of the house. Participating families provide at least 300 hours (called sweat equity) toward building their own and other families' homes. Homes are purchased with a zero-interest equivalent, 20 to 30-year mortgage.

Intermediate care facility; offers those with mental disabilities a variety of services including dietary, nursing, social work, psychiatry, psychology, dental and various therapy disciplines.

Assist consumers with multiple type diagnoses, increase their levels of functioning within their homes and within the community: medication management/assistance, court compliance, budgeting, anger management, hygiene, employment preparations.

Mobile library equipped with the latest books, children's books and DVDs. Customers can also sign up for library cards on the Bookmobile. Mobile Delivery is an alternative service to the Bookmobile. It seeks to provide limited library services to patrons who are unable to reach library branches. Stops are primarily at senior living facilities, Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority communities and daycares.

Provides a county run animal shelter that takes in the stray and unwanted animals of Shenandoah County. Strives to neuter-spay as many animals possible, place as many animals in homes as possible and keep local dog pound open Saturdays. Also educates public in animal care.

Investigate communicable diseases, including outbreaks.

Provides emergency clothing vouchers in onsite clothing closet or voucher to the Goodwill to shop. One voucher will cover 3 top, 3 pants and 1 pair of shoes. Vouchers can be renewed every 6 months.

Grow, harvest and distribute/sell fresh produce throughout the Richmond area via mobile markets. Locations of mobile markets can be found on our website, shalomfarms.org.

Offers transportation for individuals with disability in ADA area of bus routes in Suffolk, VA. Must be certified as disabled.

Medication Assisted Treatment Program, Suboxone and Vivitrol Clinic, Accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most Inusrance. Offers Counseling and Case Management as well.

Awards merit-based scholarships ranging from $1000-$5000. Requires 3 years of federal or postal service, a 3.0 grade point average and enrollment in a post-secondary degree granting program. Not available to active duty or retired military families unless civilian employment requirement is also met.

Provides temporary, emergency shelter and emotional support to survivors and their children who need safety from violence in the home. Available to victims or survivors of family/partner/domestic abuse or violence who reside in Washington County, Bristol, and Upper Sullivan County, Tennessee. Offers a support group for victims and their children.

Provides assistance and referral for those exposed to tuberculosis.

ACPS offers preschool to qualifying families through the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI). The purpose of VPI is to provide quality early childhood programs for at-risk children who are residents of Alexandria City and unserved by Head Start program funding.

Provides basic parenting classes for teens - adults to assist parents in developing skills that are appropriate when raising their children. Also offers a Teen Mom Support Group call for meeting times.

A nutrition program for eligible pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women and young children to age 5 years.

The Presbyterian Children's Home of the Highlands is a long-term residential care facility located in Southwest Virginia designed to house 25 residents (10 boys & 10 girls, as well as 5 young men in our independent living program) in a cottage setting. The facility is licensed to work with residents 5 - 21 years of age, providing programming for both males and females.
