Charlottesville Gas Assistance Program (GAP) is designed to help those individuals heating with natural gas who, although in financial need, do not qualify for State Fuel Assistance or whose State Assistance allotment has been exhausted.

Oxford House is a network of self-run, self-supported recovery homes for members recovering from alcohol and substance abuse. When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House.

CAPUP offers EFSP funds (when available), which provides rent assistance to residents of Richmond.

New Freedom provides transportation to non-emergency medical appointments, pharmacies, and grocery stores for individuals with disabilities. Trips are provided in accessible vans. New Freedom is one of several transportation programs offered by CVACL for the population it serves throughout Central Virginia, which includes older adults. Individuals, families, and caregivers are encouraged to contact the agency for more information about available transportation services.

The County has additional overflow shelter capacity that can be activated as needed based on conditions and demand. Shelter day programs will remain open during the storm, providing access to hygiene facilities, warm meals, and other essential services.
