Provides rental assistance to low income households renting decent and safe housing from private landlords throughout Franklin. The program is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Services include counseling; Medicaid pre-admission screening for nursing homes, adult care residences and in-home personal care; housing alternatives counseling; home-based care advocacy; companion services; and liaison with community resources and agencies. Assists newly released ex-offenders and their families in making a successful transition from prison to their community. Helps with emergency needs first and then to assist with the client becoming self-sufficient by obtaining employment. Provides food, clothing, transportation, and shelter, guidance for job interviews and leads, and referrals to other agencies that would further benefit the client's stability in the community. Holds ex-offender monthly groups, and trainings across the New River Valley. Other assistance includes transportation, identification document costs, housing, and GED and education, and food assistance. Provides vouchers for public transportation, pays for identification costs, provides housing referrals, GED class expenses, books and financial assistance for college classes and food, and other supports are ways to solve the immediate needs of our clients.

Provides residents with comprehensive environmental health services such as food, water and building inspection, sewage disposal, septic and well permits, public food permits, regulation of public food establishments, tourist establishment sanitation and restaurant applications. Investigates reports of food illnesses, working with businesses and citizens to educate and correct deficiencies. Also investigates reports of raw sewage or other reports of ground water contamination.

DBVI provides services and resources which empower individuals who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind to achieve their desired levels of employment, education, and personal independence. Services are provided through 4 main programs: Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Teaching and Independent Living, Low Vision Services and Education Services. Most services are provided in the person's home, school, or workplace. Referrals are accepted from individuals, families, schools, doctors, and other community partners.

Building is used as a venue to be rented and also for Parks and Recreation programs.

The Young Mothers Program provides housing, counseling and training to homeless young women, age 16 to 24, who are pregnant or have young children, and support services for minors who are pregnant or parenting. With an emphasis on parenting, education, job readiness and self-sufficiency, our graduates are able to support themselves and their children when they leave the program.

Provides psychiatric evaluation, treatment and case management that includes crisis and emergency intervention 24 hours a day for support services and crisis stabilization. Provides assessment for Temporary Detaining Orders. Substance abuse services include: *Outpatient Services * Medical Detoxification * Residential Treatment * Prevention Services * Emergency Services * Individual and Group Counseling Education * Transition and Intensive Case Management * Family Counseling * Adolescent Services * Alcohol and Drug Testing * Referral Services.

Issues warrants, admits to bail, commits to jail, issues emergency custody orders, emergency protective orders, temporary detention orders and answers as many legal questions as possible. We issue civil warrants and direct persons to the proper court. We distribute pamphlets placed by citizens against family violence. We direct abused individuals to the proper places of safety.

Provides a thrift shop with a wide array of excellent quality items from jewelry and clothing, small appliances, fans, bedding/linen and household goods, to large furniture. Merchandise is in excellent condition and well-organized.

Provides mediation services to families in conflict including such issues as divorce, custody, visitation, support and property divisions. Mediators assist clients in reaching mutually acceptable agreements through their own decisions. Sessions scheduled according to client needs, including after-hours and weekends, and have various locations throughout Northern Virginia. Mediation is voluntary and confidential and may be used concurrently with other assistance (legal, mental health, etc.)

Head Start helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Most children in Head Start are between the ages of three and five years old. Services are also available to infants and toddlers in selected sites.

Services include annual examinations, pap smears, birth control, and screenings for sexually transmitted diseases. Older low-income women can receive free breast and cervical cancer screening or referrals to community providers.

Reverse Mortgage Counseling provided virtually.

Responsible for investigating all valid reports of abuse and neglect of youth and providing services to ensure protection from immediate harm.

Mental health community support services to individuals 18yrs and older who suffer from serious mental illness.
