Provides short-term financial assistance to Navy and Marine Corps personnel for the purpose of basic living expenses, emergency transportation, certain qualifying medical, dental and funeral expenses and education.
Provides command GMT's (General Military Training) workshops on financial topics, personal financial counseling, community referrals, leadership training, and command financial specialists training. Also provides all-comer workshops on financial topics. Command Financial Specialist's training is available to service members E-6 and above, or E-5 with Command approval. FFSC Oceana's CFS classes are held at our Dam Neck office.

Provide emergency communications for members of the Armed Forces and their families. Also provide health and welfare reports, information and referrals for financial assistance with military aid societies. Conduct chapter sponsored annual events for veterans and active military.
Marine or Veteran from other military branches may qualify for membership. Funds are available for Veterans in need or widows/family.

Provides primary care and mental health outpatient services to veterans and their families.
Provides a National Call Center for Homeless Veterans hotline to ensure that homeless Veterans or Veterans at-risk for homelessness have free, 24/7 access to trained counselors. The hotline is intended to assist homeless Veterans and their families, VA Medical Centers, federal, state and local partners, community agencies, service providers and others in the community. Family members and non-VA providers calling on behalf of a homeless Veteran will be provided with information regarding the homeless programs and services available. Contact information will be requested so staff may follow-up.

Virginia Veteran and Family Support (VVFS) (formerly known as the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program) VVFS monitors and coordinates the delivery of behavioral health, rehabilitative, and supportive services for Virginia Veterans and their families. Offers caregiver support and other programs that serve family members. Dental and vision services may be available in certain circumstances. Veterans from all periods of military service are eligible for job referral, job training and job placement assistance through the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC).
Provides personnel an Individual Transition Plan that will ease reentry into civilian life. Weekly briefings are provided on transition benefits, Defense Outplacement Referral System, Public and Community Services, and the A&FRC resource library. There are also seminars on job search skills.
Provides assistance to persons in the military and their families to ensure that the moving process run as effortlessly as possible.

The Virginia Army National Guard Family Assistance Center provides 6 essential services to service members and their families regardless of branch of service or activation status: TRICARE assistance, ID Cards/DEERS assistance, financial assistance and referral, legal assistance and referral, community outreach and referral, and crisis intervention and referral.

Programs and workshops to assist active duty Navy/military members, retirees and their families. The Oceana office, provides Family Advocacy case management and general counseling services for adults and children (when available), Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, and Information & Referral services. Some workshops and classes offered by Fleet and Family Support Center Oceana are physically held at the Dam Neck classroom. Not all services provided by FFSC Oceana are available at our Dam Neck office. Please call for clarification. Some of our workshops, such as Command Financial Counselors training, may be held at our Dam Neck site.
Provides relocation services to reduce or eliminate problems and/or stress associated with frequent moves within the military. Services include Lending Closet items; Smooth Move classes, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) classes; multicultural services (ie. English as a Second Language; cultural adaptation; Citizen and Immigration classes and support groups for foreign born spouses). Also provides the Waiting Families for service members who are living separately from their military sponsor due to mission requirements. Support groups (Spouse Meet & Greet/Hearts Apart) are also provided.
Emphasis is helping veterans and their families locally;community service; sponsor and support children and youth programs.

Provides information, referral and resources for military service members and their families on any needs - military or civilian; answer questions concerning, but not limited to: adoption, child care, education, EFMP/ special needs, financial assistance, health care, housing, legal services, military benefits, non-support, relocation, ombudsmen, parenting programs, recreation, support groups, etc. Services also provided for family advocacy [FAP] (child abuse & neglect, spouse abuse, domestic violence) and sexual assault prevention and response [SAPR]. Workshops include those on anger management, stress management, parenting issues, New Spouse orientation (on-line at CNIC only), Foreign Born Spouse Connection; FAP and SAPR education requirements for the military, and other topics. We also have a New Parent Support program where services are available for expectant parents and parents of new babies and children up to age 3. Our New Parent Support staff member is available in our Oceana office, 433-2912.
A comprehensive resource file provides information on both military and civilian agencies to service members, family members and civilians. Trained personnel will assist clients to find the appropriate and available resources.

The Charlottesville Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) provides Primary Care, Mental Health and some specialty care services to Veterans in the Charlottesville area. The Charlottesville CBOC is part of the Hunter Holmes McGuire VAMC network.
