Permits are required for all new construction, additions, installations, alterations/remodeling, demolition, changes of use, changes of occupancy, movement of a lot or property line, removal or disturbing any asbestos, and any work not specifically exempted by the Code. Permits must be obtained prior to the commencement of any work.

The Henry County Refuse Department handles the County's household trash disposal. The Refuse Department manages seven Convenience Centers located throughout the County that are in place for County residents to dispose of their household trash and certain other items.
Responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state's roads, bridges and tunnels. Provides motorist assistance, citizen complaints/comments, information requests.

JCIL evaluates the physical properties and processes that persons with disabilities use to interact with local businesses, organizations, and agencies to ensure maximum achievable accessibility. These evaluations are always at the organization's request and any recommendations implemented are at their discretion and risk. Facility surveys are to determine compliance with the 'Americans with Disabilities Act.
Provides inspections for life safety, issues permits for buildings and structures, maintains building and property maintenance codes compliance and issues Certificates of Occupancy or Completion and Certificates of Appropriateness for exterior improvements in the Historic District.
