During extreme summer heat, Roanoke City encourages residents who are vulnerable to extreme temperatures to stay hydrated, limit prolonged outdoor activity during peak heat hours, check on family, neighbors, and friends, and utilize cooling centers. Beginning in June, residents and visitors will have access to air-conditioned spaces and drinking water during normal operating hours at all six Roanoke Public Library branches, Belmont Presbyterian Church, and The Hope Center.
