Building Inspections is responsible for the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. This is done through the issuance of building permits and conducting the required inspections during the construction process. Enforcement of the USBC ensures that the minimum standards required for the construction of structures is met in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

Sewage Disposal Systems: Applications, permits, and onsite evaluations for sewage disposal systems are processed. Well Inspections and Permits: Applications and evaluations for private wells are processed. Referrals for other water problems. Restaurant Permits and Inspections: Routine food establishment inspections as required by state law, including temporary and permanent establishments. Rabies Control: Information and follow-up of possible human exposure to rabies. Consultation with health care providers and assistance in appropriate post exposure treatment available. Radon Detection Information: Information on radon, radon detection, and radon prevention.
