The County Administrator executes policies established by the Board of Supervisors or mandated by the Commonwealth of Virginia, represents the Board in County matters, and reports directly to the Board of Supervisors. Mr. Hatfield also manages County Administration staff, the Public Works Department, and other special projects as needed.

Responsible for the administration and operation of Isle of Wight County government.

Works directly for the Board of Supervisors. Responsibilities include drafting, implementing, and enforcing policies that are adopted by the Board of Supervisors. The administrator also maintains the record of the proceedings for the Board of Supervisors, and maintains county operating and capital budgets.

Board of Supervisors-appointed and directs the day-to-day operations.

Issues business licenses. Offers assistance with state tax returns and estimated tax returns. Tax relief for elderly and permanently and totally disabled. Access personal property and processes real estate assessments and re-assessments, processes State tax returns, assists DMV with State motor Vehicle Rental taxes, assists Board of Equalization on citizens real property complaints, assists state with the Bank Franchise Tax. Administers Meal Tax.

The Circuit Court and its offices are administered by the Clerk of the Circuit Court, a directly-elected Constitutional Officer. The duties of the Clerk and the courts can be found at http://www.courts.state.va.us/.

They are tasked with managing a broad range of responsibilities, including budget administration, employee management, and ensuring the efficient execution of town services.

Provides management of a local government of 22 departments and the annual budget. The city manager reports directly to the city council.

Provides a department of local government which serves as the elected representative of the people and is responsible for the establishment of policy and laws to be carried out by the city manager. Instrumental in implementing the establishment of neighborhoods, senior service and community service centers. Other services include community planning and development in coordination with city agencies. Administrative services include budgeting. Council votes on budgets submitted by city agencies.

Provides centralized direction and administration for operations of all municipal services for the City of Hampton.

The Mayor presides over Council meetings and is recognized head of the City government for all ceremonial purposes.

Heads the legislative branch of the local government. Board has control over taxation, budgets, borrowings, certain appointments, and accounting.

The functions of the Harrisonburg City Manager include: Carrying out Council’s policies and directives; preparing the budget; recruiting, hiring, and supervising city staff and all department heads except the City Attorney and City Clerk; overseeing daily operations of all city departments; facilitating the flow of ideas and information between and among elected officials, employees and citizens; serving as chief adviser to council/prepares council meeting agendas; serving on numerous local and regional boards.

Along with the Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator develops and implements the policies and procedures of Westmoreland County.

Administers county services.

The City Council establishes policy for the city, approves the budget, levies its taxes, appoints the City Attorney, City Assessor, City Auditor, City Clerk, City Manager, and High Constable.

The County Administrator serves as the chief administrative officer of Fauquier County and supervises the day-to-day operations of all county departments and agencies.

Provides support and direction for the delivery of quality customer service to Virginia Beach citizens and visitors, City Council, City staff, and others to maintain and nurture a quality community for Virginia Beach. Provides a local government department which manages the city government.

Provides a local government management office serving the City of Charlottesville, translating City Council's policies and priorities into action.

Oversees the operation of the city of Galax.

The County Administrator's Office serves as the management office for Greene County government. The County Administrator is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and serves as Chief Executive Officer. Additionally, the County Administrator serves as Clerk to the Board of Supervisors as well as official liaison to the Constitutional Officers, the Judiciary, and State and regional agencies

Daily administration of the County is conducted under the leadership of the County Administrator who is employed by the Board of Supervisors.
