Provides a center for seniors offering meaningful services and activities including consumer education, health education, crafts entertainment, interaction, and fellowship, the serving of hot, well-balanced meals at noon to persons aged 60 & older. Transportation is provided to and from the center. Center located at the Stephen City United Methodist Church.

Teenagers who are pregnant or parenting their first newborn are eligible to receive adult mentoring services from women who have raised children of their own. Mentors reinforce basic health education related to pregnancy and parenting such as nutrition, infant growth and development, coping skills, and the importance of receiving health care services for themselves and for their infants. Resource Mothers help young parents keep medical appointments, develop plans for the baby’s care, stay in school or continue working, delay repeat pregnancies until adulthood, and solve the myriad of day-to-day problems involved in being a new parent.

People in need can call in with a request for services and then be matched with local church volunteers who offer services to the disadvantaged including mentoring. Services are offered at the availibility of volunteers.

The Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library (FLPL) is a 501(c)(3) with a board of directors (Friends) who raise funds and advocate for the growth and sustainability of the library beyond what falls under the city's purview. support the vital services and programs provided by the Lynchburg Public Library. Promote literacy, advocated for the development of library services, encouraged community support, and funded projects to support library services by providing equipment, materials and programs.

Provides holiday assistance for eligible families, children, and seniors in need through the Adopt a Family Program. Clients may receive some holiday food and/or gifts as needed. All assistance is voluntary so requests may or may not be filled. Applications are denied if clients apply and/or receive support from other organizations, churches, businesses or individuals.

Angel Tree is a holiday assistance program in which a sponsor purchases new clothing and toys for a child (Angel) in need.

Provides tutoring and mentoring for 5-8th graders at Walker Upper Elementary and Buford Middle Schools from 3:30PM-5:00PM Monday-Thursday. Tutor-mentors provide one-to-one academic help as well as spend time with their students outside of tutoring. This program uses incentives and offers field trips.

MPO coordinates the transportation planning activities of the various transportation-related agencies that have both a direct and indirect impact on the Long Range Plan and Transportation Improvement Program.
