If protective services are needed and accepted by the individual, local Adult Protective Services social workers may arrange for a wide variety of health, housing, social and legal services to stop the mistreatment or prevent further mistreatment. Services offered may include home-based care, transportation, adult day services, adult foster care, nutrition services and legal intervention in order to protect the adult. Services may also be arranged for individuals in emergency situations who lack the capacity to consent to services.

Provides a skilled nursing home just minutes from Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. In addition to providing long-term care also provide short-term care for those recuperating after an illness, injury or surgery. Services include physical, speech and occupational therapy and wound care.

Community Care Ministries is designed to go to various nursing homes and institutions and distribute care packages, magazines, candy, bibles, etc. to the patients. The Community Care Ministries workers will offer a friendly word or prayer at the bedside of the afflicted, conveying the love of God to them as well as the love of the community.

Adult Protective Services investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults 60 years of age or older and incapacitated adults age 18 or older. If protective services are needed and accepted by the individual, a wide range of services to stop the mistreatment or prevent further mistreatment are available. These services include social and legal services, emergency assistance and assistance in obtaining other forms of substitute decision making, including guardianship.
The Crater District Area Agency on Aging enhances the lives of older Adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers in the communities.

The identification, receipt, and investigation of complaints and reports of adult abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect incapacitated persons 18 years of age and older and persons 60 years of age and older.
Provides 24 hour services and care to the cognitively impaired in a home like environment that is barrier free. To allow the resident to age with dignity and age in a place with a specially trained staff. Care for residents with cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and strokes, in addition to other forms of dementia. Residence will have 30 private rooms and 5 semi-private rooms for a maximum of 40 residents. The staff to resident ratio will be 1 to 8.
