Art Classes - Richmond, Visual Arts Center of Richmond

Classes for adults and children of all age and skill levels in drawing, painting, clay, photography, glass, jewelry, animation, fiber, sculpture, printmaking, and writing. Art After School program provides a safe, creative environment for children in elementary and middle schools. Summer ArtVenture enrolls children in week-long art classes from June through August. Studio S program offers classes tailored to seniors.

Museum - Roanoke, Taubman Museum of Art

Encompasses the functions of an art museum but is broader in scope and more of a hybrid non-profit, permanent cultural institution. The collections form one of many equivalent cores around which exhibitions and educational programs are organized. The art center serves as a focal point of social and cultural engagement, a sort of 'town hall' for the arts. It is the ideas and experiences, educational initiatives and learning environments, and community engagement and collaboration that form the core of the art center.

Arts - Abingdon, William King Museum of Art

A nonprofit regional art museum and arts education center housed in a historic 1913 former school. It is the only facility of its kind and Virginia's only nationally accredited museum west of Roanoke. An average of 9 exhibitions are mounted each year, showcasing art of the region and of the world. Programming includes artist talks, lectures, workshops, and other special events. Two additional galleries include the Student Gallery, which displays works from area schools and colleges, and the Panoramic Gallery that features self-curated shows by local artists. These two galleries offer up to 24 additional exhibits a year. An extensive arts education program serves school and public audiences both within and outside of the facility. The Museum also features artist studios, the Looking Glass Museum Store, reference library, research archives, and an outdoor sculpture garden. Offers youth art classes, a summer art camp, and school programs. Accessible Entrance: Located at the rear of the building. From the front, turn left into the alley between the museum and the county office building; parking spaces are located behind and beside the museum. An elevator is located midway down the hall on level one. Wheelchairs are available for use; inquire at the information desk on level two.

Museum - Salem, Salem Museum and Historical Society

Located in the historic Williams-Brown House of Longwood Park, the Salem Museum serves the community by preserving the past, informing the future. Through exhibits, publications, programs, special events and vital preservation efforts, the Salem Historical Society works to keep the vibrant past of Salem and the Roanoke Valley alive. Maintains an important collection of local artifacts including Native American pieces recovered from an early Indian settlement, relics of the Civil War, and mementos of daily life from the span of Salem's history. Sponsors a rotating gallery of local artwork, publishes substantive books and articles related to local history, hosts workshops and programs, and maintains a historic herb garden.

Arts Galleries/Exhibits - Charlottesville, Art Museum, University of Virginia

Connecting students, faculty, staff, and the community through the experience of art. The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia encourages the spirit of curiosity and promotes diversity of thought through the study, care, and celebration of art. Offers tours to groups of all ages, from pre-school and K-12 students to social clubs and senior centers. We offer a variety of tour types to meet the needs and interest of every group. Interactive docent-led tours engage visitors in dialogue about the works on view, and tours led by graduate students, staff, and curators can be planned provide more information and historical context.
