When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House. All houses are near local transportation including buses and subways. Wheelchair accessibility varies by location.

McShin Foundation offers intervention services, housing, support and guidance. The Foundation works hand-in-hand with local and nonlocal treatment centers, accommodates a variety of pathways (Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, dual-diagnosis, and faith-based 12-step groups, as well as groups for family members), and provides comprehensive peer-based services before, during, and after clinical treatment.
