Early Intervention services seek to intervene or reduce the incidence of mental illness and intellectual disabilities by enhancing protective factors for at-risk children and their families At-risk populations can access specialized services that offer positive behavioral skills training, counseling, education, tutoring, support and enrichment programs through contracts with Child Development Resources (CDR) and Infant and Toddler Connection.

Provides an array of outpatient services for children with serious emotional disturbances, substance abuse disorders and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services include psychiatric treatment, medication management, individual, family and group counseling, school-based day treatment, Intensive In-Home Services, Infant/Toddler Case Management, and case management for children 3-18. Mental Illness Ed/Prevention - Yorktown, Psychological Services, York County Public Schools

Provides psychological testing/counseling to students ages 2-22. ****REFERRAL: Students may be referred by teachers, administrators, parents/guardians/surrogates, outside agencies, or themselves. ****SERVICES: After parental permission has been obtained a child may be tested, observed and counseled in an effort to correct any difficulties he or she may be experiencing.

Case Management - Cedar Bluff, Mental Health Services, Cumberland Mountain Community Services

Assesses the consumer's needs for housing, medical care, employment, etc. and seeks to help the individual obtain these resources. This approach is long term and indefinite, with efforts prioritized to those at risk of rehospitalization. Case management services include hospital liaison and discharge planning. Maintains responsibility for the consumer as the person enters the psychiatric hospital and while an inpatient, the case manager works with the family, inpatient staff and community services board programs to insure an effective plan to return to the community.

RESPOND is a free service that enables you to speak with a trained mental health professional, any time of the day or night. RESPOND will provide the reassurance you need to cope with your concerns, whether for yourself or a loved one. Offers free psychiatric assessments, referrals, and admissions. Offers a variety of treatment options for alcohol and drug addiction, depression, anxiety, and a host of other issues. Special programs for adults, adolescents, and children, and treatment is always provided in a confidential and comforting environment. RESPOND assessments are also available through Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg and Pulaski Community Hospital.

The Early Intervention Program of Loudoun provides specialized services for families and children birth through thirty-six months of age. The program serves infants and toddlers who have a suspected delay, a diagnosis that could lead to delays, or atypical development. Children with vision and hearing impairments can also be served in this program.
