Early Intervention services seek to intervene or reduce the incidence of mental illness and intellectual disabilities by enhancing protective factors for at-risk children and their families At-risk populations can access specialized services that offer positive behavioral skills training, counseling, education, tutoring, support and enrichment programs through contracts with Child Development Resources (CDR) and Infant and Toddler Connection.

Provides an array of outpatient services for children with serious emotional disturbances, substance abuse disorders and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services include psychiatric treatment, medication management, individual, family and group counseling, school-based day treatment, Intensive In-Home Services, Infant/Toddler Case Management, and case management for children 3-18. Services are for children only. Provides psychological testing/counseling to students ages 2-22. ****REFERRAL: Students may be referred by teachers, administrators, parents/guardians/surrogates, outside agencies, or themselves. ****SERVICES: After parental permission has been obtained a child may be tested, observed and counseled in an effort to correct any difficulties he or she may be experiencing.

Assesses the consumer's needs for housing, medical care, employment, etc. and seeks to help the individual obtain these resources. This approach is long term and indefinite, with efforts prioritized to those at risk of rehospitalization. Case management services include hospital liaison and discharge planning. Maintains responsibility for the consumer as the person enters the psychiatric hospital and while an inpatient, the case manager works with the family, inpatient staff and community services board programs to insure an effective plan to return to the community.

Offers outpatient mental health services for adults age 18+ which include crisis intervention, case management, medication monitoring, re-socialization, early intervention, community and in-home mental health support services. RESPOND is a free service that enables you to speak with a trained mental health professional, any time of the day or night. RESPOND will provide the reassurance you need to cope with your concerns, whether for yourself or a loved one. Offers free psychiatric assessments, referrals, and admissions. Offers a variety of treatment options for alcohol and drug addiction, depression, anxiety, and a host of other issues. Special programs for adults, adolescents, and children, and treatment is always provided in a confidential and comforting environment. RESPOND assessments are also available through Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg and Pulaski Community Hospital.

The Early Intervention Program of Loudoun provides specialized services for families and children birth through thirty-six months of age. The program serves infants and toddlers who have a suspected delay, a diagnosis that could lead to delays, or atypical development. Children with vision and hearing impairments can also be served in this program.

Community Support Programs-Case Management is composed of programs designed to provide community based Behavioral Health services to seriously mentally ill adults and those with substance use disorders Program activities support consumer recovery and community integration by providing a continuum of services designed to promote maximum independence in the community. Services are tailored to respond to the unique needs of individuals with serious mental illness.

Crisis services provides residents of Danville & Pittsylvania County, as well as those present in the area, with 24 hour a day crisis intervention to aid in the management of acute behavioral health problems. Also provides all prescreening evaluations for admission to state hospitals.

Host monthly Lunch & Learns to educate the public about important topics like suicide prevention, provide Mental Health First Aid to the community, provide Resource Guides to help those in need find therapy and resources quickly and easily, and bring together leaders from partner organizations to set community-wide goals to improve mental health access. The Children's Services Department provides community-based prevention and treatment services to children of all ages. Programs within the Children's Services Department include MHCM, MHOP, Substance Use OP, Early Intervention, Court Services, and Crater OP Therapy.

Designed to prepare children for a successful transition into school, this program covers essential skills such as social interaction, routine following, and communication.

Part C Early Intervention provides a full range of services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. Services aim to provide formal and informal support to meet the outcomes identified by families for their children. Provides 24 hour a day supervision, training, and assistance in daily living skills for adults who have a developmental disability. All individuals are involved in day programs and actively participate in community events. Each individual assists with the development of a service plan based on his/her individual preferences.

Mental Health Intake & Resource Center handles direct admissions to the adult (Mundy 3) and child/adolescent (Krise 6) psychiatric acute programs at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Mental health professionals from across Virginia may call for a direct admission if they have assessed the patient and believe s/he meets criteria (danger to self or others).
