An early intervention program, CHIP addresses the unique mental health risks children and families in poverty face, through in-home family support and parenting education that helps lessen the detrimental effects of poverty. Families receive support and encouragement, therapeutic interventions, parenting guidance, referrals for counseling or out patient counseling through CHIP either in-home or in an office setting, care coordination for psychiatric evaluation and medication management. When combined, these interventions produce confident parents, self-sufficient families, and healthy children with a strong foundation upon which to build future successes. Mental health services focus on mothers with mental health issues (diagnosed or presenting) and children through age seven who are at risk for serious emotional disturbance, as well as children who are already showing signs of emotional or behavioral issues.

Psychiatric and Nursing Services provides consumers with diagnostic assessments and evaluations, education regarding mental illness and medication issues, medication management, drug and alcohol screenings, prescriptions, medication administration, injections, lab work, consultations with other members of multi-disciplinary team, consultation and referral to outside health care providers. RESPOND will provide the reassurance you need to cope with your concerns, whether for yourself or a loved one. Offers free psychiatric assessments, referrals, and admissions. Offers a variety of treatment options for alcohol and drug addiction, depression, anxiety, and a host of other issues. Special programs for adults, adolescents, and children, and treatment is always provided in a confidential and comforting environment. RESPOND assessments are also available through Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg and Pulaski Community Hospital.

Part C Early Intervention provides a full range of services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. Services aim to provide formal and informal support to meet the outcomes identified by families for their children. Provide outreach, coordinate services, and make referrals in the community as needed.

Psychological assessment is provided for children, adolescents and adults. These services assist with diagnostic clarification and treatment planning for referred individuals. Referrals are made by local industries, health care providers, legal services, Department of Children Services, Department of Human Services, law enforcement, emergency agencies, and school systems.

Host monthly Lunch & Learns to educate the public about important topics like suicide prevention, provide Mental Health First Aid to the community, provide Resource Guides to help those in need find therapy and resources quickly and easily, and bring together leaders from partner organizations to set community-wide goals to improve mental health access. National Alliance on Mental Illness - Mid-Tidewater offers support, education, and advocacy for persons with mental illness and their families.

Provides 24 hour a day supervision, training, and assistance in daily living skills for adults who have a developmental disability. All individuals are involved in day programs and actively participate in community events. Each individual assists with the development of a service plan based on his/her individual preferences.

Offered in each of the offices by clinical social workers, and counselors. Outpatient counseling services are brief in nature, often utilizing "solution focused" or other brief models of behavior modification. Provided at four different locations: Main Center (adjacent to SWCC), Tazewell County Satellite Office (Tazewell), Russell County Satellite Office (Lebanon), and at the Buchanan County Satellite Office (Grundy).

Offers mental health supports to adults with serious mental illness. A qualified staff member works one on one with individuals to teach them how to develop coping skills, access community resources, develop a natural support system, and locate safe and affordable housing. Staff members also teach cooking skills, laundry and cleaning skills, nutrition, health and safety, budgeting skills, and community leisure skills. Individuals work toward attaining their goal of independence in the community.

Provides a wide variety of clinical services for residents of the City of Lynchburg and the surrounding area. Both adults and children are offered individualized service options and specializations to meet their unique behavioral health needs. At this location, individuals have access to both in-person and telehealth care for adult and child medication management, nursing assessments, psychological evaluations, specialized outpatient therapy, specialized case management, emergency services, ambulatory crisis stabilization for children, school based services, health information management, and group therapy sessions.
