RBHA's Crisis Intervention provides 24-hour emergency services, information, referral, and triage for outpatient services for individuals in the City of Richmond. Crisis clinicians will be available to discuss and respond to service needs. Individuals seeking services from outside the City of Richmond will be linked to the Crisis Intervention program or to the Community Services Board serving the locality where they reside.

The Emergency Services Program provides an effective, rapid response to critical situations 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Services are directed toward adults and children and adolescents who are experiencing severe, acute symptoms of mental illness or emotional disorder, including those with a risk of suicide, risk of danger to others, and emergencies related to alcohol or drug abuse or addiction. apid Access provides a comprehensive assessment to individuals seeking Behavioral Health services. Individuals are seen on a first come, first serve basis during Rapid Access hours and serves children, adolescents, and adults. Following an assessment, individuals may be referred to recommended community resources or scheduled for an appointment with a case manager or clinician depending on the individual’s specific needs.

Region Ten provides a variety of mental health services to meet the needs of our community. Services are provided for all age groups and are provided on an individual, group, or family basis. Services are also available at numerous locations across our catchment area to those experiencing mental health challenges and who may also have issues with substance use. Mental Health Services are strength-based, recovery-oriented services designed to evaluate and treat the mental health challenges that individuals may experience during their lifetime.

Connections ABA & Family Support Services Provides home-based and clinic-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children and adolescents under the age of 21 who demonstrate significant impairment in adaptive functioning that is related to either developmental delays or other health conditions.

Provides crisis intervention, prevention, and therapeutic respite services to adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and behavioral challenges or mental health concerns. START is available 24/7 to address crisis situations through telephone consults and/or face to face assessments. Ongoing services will assist with working with the person and his/her system of support to identify areas of concern and design a plan to prevent and/or provide intervention in the event of a crisis.

Provides mental health, substance abuse, and prevention services.

Emergency Services Crisis staff are available 24/7 to offer support, guidance, and direct intervention when necessary for persons in behavioral health crisis. Crisis Counselors work in conjunction with local hospitals, first responders, and community members to assist with resolving situations and developing plans of immediate care to outpatient and inpatient resources.

Clinicians provide assessment and diagnoses as well as treatment planning and counseling and psychotherapy. Referrals are made within RACS (such as to the psychiatrist) or to other professionals as necessary. Referrals are made to RACS by many sources such as doctors, family members, courts. Emergency and Crisis Services are available for people who have a mental illness, substance use disorder, and/or developmental disability, are in acute distress, and need immediate help. Mobile Crisis Units to respond in the community are also available.

Services include individual, family, and group counseling, play and expressive art therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, case management, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and discharge planning from state and private mental hospitals with linkage to community services. Therapy services are provided to detainees at Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
