Crisis Intervention - Roanoke, Assessment and Emergency Services, Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare

Provides 24 hour crisis intervention counseling and referral; pre-admission screening to determine need for hospitalization; court liaison for the involuntary commitment procedure; and initial contact for sexual assault victims. During the business day, this service provides a single source for determining placement through a variety of comprehensive assessment instruments. Based on the outcome of the screening, individuals may receive a clinical assessment, short-term counseling, and/or referrals to the appropriate level and intensity of treatment, either from BRBH or other community providers. Provide consumers a single point of entry to the agency, crisis response and assessment, case management, and therapeutic services designed for specific populations meeting our admission criteria. People with mental disabilities can receive a comprehensive assessment to determine their mental health, intellectual disability, and/or substance use services needs, and be referred to the services which best meet those needs. Services are designed to aid consumers in achieving their highest possible level of functioning.

Partial Hospitalization Program - Fairfax, Inova Kellar Center

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a short-term (10-15 days), intensive treatment program for male and female adolescents ages 12 to 18 who are experiencing an acute crisis. The program includes multidisciplinary assessment, treatment, and stabilization with the goals of maintaining safety, crisis management, and symptom relief. PHP is held Monday through Friday for six hours per day. Adolescents attend PHP instead of school as a medical leave of absence. PHP allows the adolescent to remain in his/her home and community while receiving an intensive therapeutic experience primarily through group therapy with peers.

Outpatient mental health and substance abuse programs for adults, children, adolescents. Servcies include Individual & Group Psychotherapy; Marital & Family Counseling; Psychiatric Services; Parenting Classes Intensive In-Home Services; Crisis Services; Medication Monitoring; Case Management; Consultation & Education Services; Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Plan; and Children in the Middle. Also offered at this site is Project LINK, an outpatient program for pregnant, substance-abusing women or mothers with dependent children, is also offered at this site. In-Home Services, Home-based family-focused services are provided for children from birth to 17 with emotional difficulties, returning from placement, or who are at risk of out-of-home placement or other services. FOOTHOLDS works one on one with children and their families to build a healthy family environment. The program helps identify obstacles, increase communication skills, structure positive home, social skills development; provides support, guidance and links to resources; and educates caregivers, and Transitions teaches independent living skills to individuals who are 16 to 21 years old so they may achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate least-restrictive environment. Services in Lee, Scott and Wise Counties and the City of Norton are provided in partnership with Planning District One Behavioral Health Services.

While HELP LINE volunteers complete a training program, we are not professionals, and so we focus on finding long-term services in the community for our callers, such as counseling services, medical services, drug treatment programs, and the like.
