A variety of programs offered to inner-city youth and families at no cost. The Y On Wheels is a mobile YMCA. The program provides fitness and nutrition based programs designed to teach principles and methods of healthy physical fitness to children. The project brings the YMCA programming, mission, and values to communities and neighborhoods that do not have access to a YMCA facility or programming. In collaboration with the Live Healthy Lynchburg Initiative the project reaches out to inner city communities by offering free outreach programs that are designed to provide the Y experience for children and families who cannot afford them. Other programs include: Bright Beginnings, Angel Tree, and Healthy Kids Day. Outreach Swim lessons offered to children from inner city neighborhoods. The program works with elementary schools to identify children who need swim lessons. We provide group lessons to 2nd grade students. We collaborate with Jubilee, The High Apartments and Boy's and Girl's Club.

YEL-J4K is a Food Desert Solution that incorporates Food Desert residents into our Solution! We're Keeping Kids Off the Streets and Raising our next Generation of CEOs and Entrepreneurs! Through YEL-J4K and ALE-J4U, we have been able to locally impact Food Deserts, Food Insecurities and Food Waste; provide Mentoring, intergenerational Training & Development (for Youth and Adults) and Career Coaching; and serve Seniors and our Communities. YEL-J4K was established in 2011 and has grown from an eight week program into a Year-Round, interactive, classroom and on-the-job training pre-apprenticeship! We connect Healthy Eating with Helping Youth, Seniors and our Communities. Our goal is to reduce the effects of Food Deserts namely Food Insecurity, Unemployment, Poverty, Crime, Chronic Disease and Mortality. Our Training & Development programs, MOBILE Fresh Produce Stands, 5-Day Meal Preps, Fruit & Veggie Delivery Service, Restaurant and Business Service Divisions (including Yard Care, Administrative Support, Senior Care, Flyer Distribution, Moving Services and Cleaning/Organizing) give our ambassadors a platform to help the Community, build their self-confidence and marketable skills and earn stipends!
