Support Group Mental Health - Staunton, NAMI We Care

Provides a recovery support. NAMI We Care Augusta supports recovery by providing hope, encouragement and support to the community, including mental health services to consumers and family members. The group also provides education regarding symptoms, current treatment and therapies, community resources and alternative approaches to mental health. Free monthly educational meetings and family support group sessions are offered. Issues of awareness of mental health issues and reducing stigma are promoted through participation in community events.

A social drop-in center (no appointment needed) for mental health consumers. Provides a safe, consumer run alternative for the purpose of socialization, self help, advocacy, recreation and education. Operates primarily during the time traditional providers of mental-health services are closed. Employs consumers of mental health services as staff with the belief that they can provide services for individuals, making their own lives more productive and meaningful, while enriching the lives of others. Sponsors support groups such as the Peer Support Group, Veteran's Support Group, Wellness Recovery Action Plan Workshops, Codependents Anonymous, Music Group, and Dual Recovery Anonymous; a 12-step program for people with both substance abuse and mental health issues. Provides activities such as bingo, chess and checkers, cook outs, karaoke, holiday activities and more. Veterans Group on Thursdays at 2pm.
