Parks and Recreation - Lynchburg, Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department

Offers a range of services and activities for both residents and visitors. 17 parks provide the perfect setting for everything from picnics and fishing to canoeing, kayaking, and playful afternoons with the kids. With over 40 miles of scenic trails, there’s plenty of room to walk, hike, run, or mountain bike your way through the heart of Lynchburg. Our nine recreation centers are hubs of activity, hosting group programs, celebrations, community meetings, and outdoor fun. Plus, Parks and Recreation not only supports events for outside organizations but also brings the community together with our own special events.

Parks and Recreation - Orange, Orange County Parks and Recreation

The Orange County Parks and Recreation Department (OCPR) is primarily responsible for the development of leisure activities for the citizens of Orange County. Also schedule the county facility at Barboursville Community Park. OCPR provides a wide variety of organized leisure activities for all ages. OCPR also offers seasonal discount tickets to area theme parks. Additionally, discount movie tickets to Regal Cinemas are available year-round with no expiration date.

Parks - Max Meadows, New River Trail State Park, Pulaski County Parks and Recreation

Virginia's only linear state park is a rails-to-trails project following an abandoned railroad line through tunnels, over bridges and along the New River from downtown Pulaski to Galax. The Trail is 57 miles long and parallels the New River for 29 miles providing excellent water activities. The state park is excellent for hiking, horseback riding and bicycling. Bike, canoe, and guide services are available.

Parks and Recreation - Lexington, Rockbridge County Parks and Recreation

Blue Ridge Recreation Area -Is owned and operated by Rockbridge County. It houses a 25-meter outdoor pool featuring a 12' diving well, as well as a separate wading/kiddies' pool for toddlers (enclosed by a fence). The pool site also includes bathhouses with dressing areas and hot showers, a playground with swings and picnic tables. Lake A. Willis Robertson - Is owned and operated by Rockbridge County. The Lake Robertson Recreation Area is a popular family destination featuring 56 tent and hook-up sites, picnic shelters, tennis courts, Lake Robertson Pool, volleyball court, 10 miles of hiking trails, boat and canoe rentals, horseshoes and a 26 acre fishing lake. Parks and Recreation - Covington, Covington City Government Services

Responsible for providing, conducting and supervising public playgrounds, play fields, indoor recreation centers and other recreation areas and facilities owned or controlled by the city. The Department of Recreation shall have the power to conduct any form of recreation or cultural activity that will employ the leisure time of the people in a constructive and wholesome manner. Maintains 60 acres of park and playground areas which geographically span the entire city, including eight athletic fields which are used for Little League sports, adult sport activities and our city stadium, Casey Field. Maintains the grounds around five municipal buildings, median strips and landscapes seasonal flowers and plants throughout the city limits.

Provides a Federal Agency to protect and manage 190,000 acres of National Forest land and provide recreation opportunities.
