The Building Young Men Mentoring program is a mentoring program for males 8 to 18. The program was started in 1992 for the purpose of meeting the needs of Inner city male youth. Our goal is to help young males successfully transition from boyhood to manhood by providing them with: positive male role models, recreational activities, guidance counseling and substance abuse prevention.

Offers a club for 5th through 8th grade boys that meets Monday evenings for large group games, skits, dinner, speakers, Bible study and service. Leaders teach Skills for Adolescence.

Provides recreational activities including swimming, bowling and field trips. Educational activities are incorporated into the daily recreational program. Lunch and 2 snacks are provided daily.

Through a school-based coordinator, CIS strategically aligns and delivers needed resources so that students can focus on learning. CIS builds relationships with students, teachers, families, and multiple community resources, with a singular focus, improving academic achievement. CIS partners with local businesses, civic groups, faith communities, public agencies and community volunteers to create resources and deliver quality programming for students and families in-need. We serve students in grades Pre-K through the 12th grade at 17 Chesterfield County Schools.

Family and individual mentors services for clients experiencing minimal to moderate issues within the home environment and/or community and who are in need of one-to-one support and advocacy, while modeling how to establish and/or strengthen supportive relationships. This program can be therapeutic in nature, but this is not a requirement.

Provides a program where undergraduate women are paired with local middle school girls to work on enhancing leadership skills. All mentors are trained and commit to the program for one year. Optional service projects are planned monthly for mentor pairs who will continue past 1 year.

Mentoring is provided to at-risk youth, 4-21 years of age. Mentors serve as supportive positive role models for youth who may exhibit emotional or social behavioral difficulties which may interfere with their ability to interact appropriately within the community. Services may include: advocacy, role modeling, education/vocational/career planning, conflict resolution, behavior modification, independent living/life skills and social/recreational activities. Mentors create client specific treatment plans based on needs indentified by the client's case manager and treatment team. Mentoring can be done in the home, in the community, or in the office.

Non-profit organization creating One-to-One mentoring relationships between volunteer Big Brothers/Sisters over age 21 with Little Brothers/Sisters, age 7 through 15 years to enroll; primarily from single-parent homes for mentoring and support. Adult volunteers are carefully screened and whenever possible are matched with youth who live nearby.

The Madeline Centre, Inc. staff works with client and family towards less intense therapeutic goals. Mentoring services are usually used in tandem with IIHS or as a transition service into our out of more intensive services.
