The GoodGuides Youth Mentoring program is dedicated to helping youth build career plans, skills, and prepare for school completion, post-secondary training, and productive work. The program provides structured and supportive relationships with trusted adult mentors. GoodGuides serves youth ages 12 to 17 who are at risk of delinquency or who have already had contact with the juvenile justice system. By becoming part of the social network of adults and community members who care about the youth, the mentor can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals. Services will be provided in a variety of community settings and times appropriate for the mentee and mentor. GoodGuides focuses on positive youth development, emphasizing the aptitudes, skills, interests, and capabilities of youth versus deficits they may have when they are enrolled. The family strengthening approach focuses on the philosophy that youth are more likely to thrive when they are living in stable households, have healthy relationships with family members and caregivers, and have access to community resources.

Gabriel Project - provides mentoring for pregnant women and mothers of infants. Provides maternity and baby clothing, baby furniture and supplies, as available from donations.

Volunteers opportunites to tutor phonics, comprehension, grammar, and word definitions. One tutor is matched with one child, for one hour each week. Tutoring takes place at Hampton Roads Title I Elementary schools usually inside of an LEC funded Technology and Literacy computer labs.

Offers unique Scouting programs are designed to meet the needs of youth and their parents, by offering fun and challenging adventures that children and their parents do together. Programs offer youth the opportunity to learn through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Cub Scouting is the program for elementary school aged youth. This program teaches youth about their family and community. Scouts BSA is for middle/high school youth. This program features leadership development and life skills. Venturing/Sea Scouting/Exploring are for high school and young adults to explore high adventure, leadership development, career exploration and have fun.

Supervised after school program for children ages 6 to 18. Programs include education and career development, health and life skills, art and sports, fitness and recreation.

Offers a community based mentoring program that addresses the problems of unequal access to higher education by low income and/or potential first generation college or post secondary students. Skyline CAP offers this program in collaboration with Madison County High School. In the local program, Skyline's Project Discovery students meet for workshops once a week to explore their options for life after high school. Participants are encouraged to take the hardest classes in which they can do well, and be involved in school and community activities. They also have the opportunity to visit at least three colleges or trade schools each year. College bound students are also encouraged to apply for at least twenty scholarships.

Provides young ladies with opportunities to address issues concerning the transition from girlhood to womanhood through workshops, activities and guest-speakers.

FSRV's Youth Development program provides year-round prevention services to underserved children and youth through partnerships with local schools and community organizations. Youth Development Specialists implement evidence-based curricula, including Love Notes® and the Teen Outreach Program® (TOP®) for middle and high school students, while elementary-aged participants receive age-appropriate programming that promotes healthy relationships, positive decision-making, and resilience. Through consistent engagement with trusted adults, the program strengthens protective factors, delays the onset of high-risk behaviors, and equips youth with the skills needed for a healthy and successful transition into adulthood.

SOHO fosters growth through one-to-one mentoring, engagement in life skills instruction, creative art and carpentry activities, healthy dinners and meaningful community service projects.

To provide children with military affiliation, facing adversity with strong enduring, professionally supported one to one relationships. In the Hampton Roads area, BBB's serve middle school age children in military connected families.

The Mission of the Boys & Girls Club is "To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens."

Mentor program for pregnant teens. These adult role models have successfully raised their own children and assist the teen throughout her pregnancy and up to the baby's first birthday.

Provides Crown Acasemy, a club for girls in grades 9-12. Bible study, crafts, and small group discussion. Regular retreats and field trips are also offered. Also provides, Royal Girls, a club for girls in grade 8, that meets Tuesdays for large group dinner and small group Bible study. Retreats and small-group outings also take place.

Provides a comprehensive program by which youth and adults develop character, citizenship, mental and physical fitness which are reinforced through mentoring, advancement, activities and outdoor programs. Boys and girls ages 5-20 are welcome. The Shenandoah Area Council administers the Scouting America program for four districts to provide localized support for Scouting. The Potomac District serves Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties (except Paw Paw area) of West Virginia. The Shawnee District serves the City of Winchester and Frederick and Clark County in Virginia and Capon Bridge and Paw Paw in West Virginia. The Shenrapawa District serves Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren counties of Virginia. The Mason Dixon serves Washington County and portions of Franklyn County in Maryland and Fulton County in Pennsylvania.

The program provides in and out-of-home services and supports. Services include crisis intervention, behavioral intervention, participation in treatment planning, outreach, service provider linkage, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, independent living skills, vocational instruction, medication monitoring, supportive counseling and positive role modeling.

A state licensed child care center. Encourages girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Major programs address math and science education, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media literacy, economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, and sports participation.

Provides academic and mentoring support by qualified professional tutor from the business and professional community for all students but targeting African American male students who have been suspended from a Virginia Beach public school for more than one day and intend to return to school to complete their educational pursuit. The program also gives opportunities for suspended students to make positive contributions to their community while suspended from school.

Big Brothers Big Sisters provide after school programs in the City of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and King George or Caroline. Also have lunch time and end-of-day programs available in Stafford county. Please call for specific school sites where services are provided.

An interdenominational youth outreach ministry. Offers social and recreational events for middle and high school age adolescents and young adults.

A special mentoring program for first time pregnant or parenting teens. Teens will receive education about taking care of themselves and their infants up to one year of age. Teens will benefit from assistance with setting educational goals, accessing healthcare, and planning for the future care of their infant.

A community service offering one-to-one mentoring programs for children who can benefit from a positive role model, and caring adult in their life. Each volunteer mentor is matched with a child, based on compatibility.

C4K combines mentoring and technology to prepare youth for brighter futures.
