The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is a open-access, municipal shelter. The shelter provides a safe-haven for dogs, cats, and small animals like guinea pigs, rabbits and pet birds. At any given time, visitors to the adoption center can meet cats and kittens, dogs and puppies, and dozens of small animals, all available for adoption.

Provides animal shelter services including adoptions, lost and found, requests for literature, reports of cruelty and injuries that we direct to animal control; educational activities including informal activities, low cost spay/neuter, wildlife referral, disaster services and the presentation of movies, filmstrip, etc., to school classes. The Orange County Virginia Animal Shelter houses unwanted, lost or abandoned animals. Provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year. Provides a humane society for Madison County. The Madison County Humane Society has a limited selection of dogs and cats. Assist other area shelters and take animals from individuals. All of these animals need someone with whom to share their lives. Appropriate homes are located for these animals after the animals receive necessary medical attention and are spayed/neutered. Adoption Center provides a safe haven for homeless pets until they go to their forever homes. All Adoption Center animals have an examination, vaccinations, tests and parasite treatment upon arrival. They are spayed/neutered and microchipped.

Richmond Animal Care & Control (RACC) is an open admission public shelter. RACC provides humane care for stray, injured, lost, abused, and abandoned pets. The Animal Control staff investigates animal cruelty, enforces humane laws, and issues pet licenses. RACC has pets available for adoption.
