A group of volunteers providing regular open visitation hours to the public in hopes of increasing the chances that the shelter animals of Giles County will be adopted instead of euthanized. The Giles County Animal Shelter is under jurisdiction of Giles County Sheriff Department. Volunteers at the shelter at the invitation of the Giles County Board of Supervisors, the Sheriff's Dept and Giles County Animal Control. Offers low cost spay/neuter and placement services for pets. The shelter is open Monday-Saturday 12pm-4pm or by appointment with an Animal Control Officer. Officers may be paged through their dispatch by calling 540-921-3842. Adoptions during the week are done by appointment only.

Provides animal shelter services including adoptions, lost and found, requests for literature, reports of cruelty and injuries that we direct to animal control; educational activities including informal activities, low cost spay/neuter, wildlife referral, disaster services and the presentation of movies, filmstrip, etc., to school classes. Provides a community outreach program to provide free services to low income communities. Offers free or low cost humane education, spay/neuter surgeries, and pet wellness care. Works in partnership with the Roanoke City Fire Department. Uses volunteers and accepts donations.
