Administers the social security retirement, disability and survivors benefit programs. We are also responsible for determining entitlement to Medicare and eligibility for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. SSI is a benefit program for the blind, disabled and those ages 65 or older and who have little or no income and resources. Administer all programs under Social Security Administration.

Provides benefits services to veterans and their dependents. Offers compensation for service connected disabilities. Administers pensions for wartime veterans permanently and totally disabled from non-service connected conditions. Provides death pensions and compensation. Oversees GI Home Loans and Veterans Education Assistance. Offers vocational rehabilitation for service-connected disabilities.

General Relief (GR) provides limited financial assistance to individuals and families. Someone who is eligible for assistance from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), may or may not be eligible for GR. Because this is a local program, the kind of assistance available varies from locality to locality.
