Employment Services - Martinsville, Henry Martinsville Social Services

There are two primary components to the Employment Services Program: 1) Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training Program (JOBS) - Anyone who receives TANF and is not exempt for one reason or another will be referred to the JOBS Program. Must participate 20 hours per week in their assigned activity. 2) SNAP Employment and Training Program (SNAPET) - Eligible recipients who receive Food Stamps that are not exempt will be referred to the SNAPET Program. Scheduled to participate in an activity based in their assistance and the minimum wage. These programs offer opportunities in education, job skills training, work experience, job readiness training, and other locally developed activities in support of customers becoming self-sufficient.

A one-stop resource for skills assessment, career training, job placement, personalized counseling, interview and resume preparation and job search assistance. You have access to fax machines, computers, the Internet as well as interview coaching and of course, all the job listings and job fairs in the area.

Provides an Information Center that provides the general public with career resources and services in order to prepare a work force that is informed, capable, and ready for work. The services available include internet-ready computers, job information, job searches, fax, phone, a copier. The Madison Information Center is affiliated with the Virginia Workforce System and is located at the Madison County Social Services. The Center is open to the public. When calling the Madison County Social Services, please ask for the Job Center.

Program assists individuals and families with job opportunities. Provides customers with job services, unemployment insurance services, labor market information services and employer recruitment services. Matches job seekers to employer job openings. Administers unemployment benefits for persons who have worked in Virginia and other states. Benefit claims may also be filed on the Virginia Employment Commission web site at www.VaEmploy.com or by calling toll free 1-866-832-2363. Provides information and services on other special programs such as the trade act program, alien labor certification, veterans, persons with disabilities, older workers, youth etc. These services are provided at no charge to the consumer. Serves the counties of Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange, Rappahannock and the City of Charlottesville.

Provides the general public with career resources and services in order to prepare a work force that is informed, capable, and ready for work. The services available at the Career Center include internet-ready computers, resume services, cover letters and job searches, interviewing techniques, fax, phone, a copier, resource library, educational videos, newspapers, magazines, computer tutorials, and career counseling. Job seekers can also open e-mail accounts to correspond with potential employers. The Albemarle Career Center is affiliated with the Virginia Workforce System. The Center is open to the public.

Culpeper Career Resource Center (CCRC) in the town of Culpeper County, Virginia is a community resource serving workers looking for employment and employees seeking employees throughout the five county area: Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties. Sam's place, a community outreach center, is a one stop hub where individuals and families can access information and referrals to other community partners. Assistance is offered with a variety of needs including, but not limited to health, transportation, food, home repairs, and an avenue to apply for financial aid for housing. Also offered are vision and hearing aids, clothing and furniture vouches. Referrals are made based upon personal needs, available funds, and program criteria

(Note: All resource room equipment and computers are restricted to job search use only.)Priority of Services for Veterans which can be facilitated by all Staff, with specialized assistance by a dedicated Staff Member for those veterans with significant barriers to employment.
