Cardinal Care Smiles is Virginia's dental program for Medicaid, FAMIS, or FAMIS Plus. Members who are enrolled in Cardinal Care Smiles and are 20 years of age or younger receive comprehensive dental benefits. Comprehensive dental benefits are also available to pregnant members enrolled in Medicaid and FAMIS MOMS, as well as Medicaid members over the age of 21. There are no costs associated with dental care services in the Cardinal Care Smiles program. Cardinal Care Smiles is a program offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and is managed by DentaQuest. The member support service team is available to assist Virginia Medicaid members in finding a participating dental provider. Member Services can help with claims, prior authorizations, transportation, and any questions regarding policies and procedures. For adults enrolled in a managed care organization (MCO), transportation will be provided through their MCO, except for those enrolled in FAMIS.
