Providing preventive dental care to children who are most at risk for dental caries (cavities or decay) and long term dental disease. Provides parents with information on proper oral hygiene, nutrition and oral health literacy in an effort to reduce high risk behaviors (pre-chewing food, sharing utensils, putting children to bed with sugary drinks) that lead to Early Childhood Caries. Nurses apply semi-annual fluoride dental varnish to the teeth of CHIP-enrolled children from tooth bud eruption to age 36 months who do not presently receive varnish treatments through another health care provider.

Care available at Clinch River Health Services includes prenatal care, infant and child care, adolescent medicine, primary gynecology, general internal medicine, geriatrics, preventive health care, minor surgery, and behavioral health services. Telemedicine services are available onsite at the center through the University of Virginia's Telemedicine Program. Several specialty services are available through this program. Provides access to medicines for patients free of charge through the pharmaceutical companies indigent programs. Patients must meet eligibility requirements of the individual companies. A Family Dental Program is available to eligible patients. The program uses funding obtained through the Southwest Virginia United Way and other sources.
