A health educator is available to help with community health education, promotion, screenings, worksite programs, health counseling, coalition building for health, and grants. Upon agreement with local schools and colleges, the local health departments assist students in gaining clinical experience needed to fulfill their course requirements.

Provides information and supportive services to parents in Wise, Lee, and Scott Counties and the City of Norton. All first-time parents qualify for a free Welcome Baby Package filled with pregnancy and/or parenting information, samples of baby products and a welcome gift. A voluntary program that provides a family with a home visitor that answers questions, calm fears, provide development and health information, support, and connect parents with resources located in their community. Assists parents in discovering ways to help their child be the very best that he or she can be. Holds parent "Get-togethers" that are educational and fun activities, a chance to meet other first-time parents, on-site childcare available if needed during the meeting. Transportation provided or arranged to doctor visits, parent "get-togethers," other important appointments.

The work covers a broad range of issues including securing income support, improving health-promoting public benefits programs, expanding insurance coverage, fighting for mental health infrastructure, preventing medical debt/medical debt collection actions, and redressing disability-based discrimination.

The Healthcare Insurance Marketplace open enrollment is open November 1 - January 15th. However some individuals may be eligible for special enrollment outside this period.
