The Diabetes Management education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association offering education on a variety of topics including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, medical nutrition therapy, insulin pump initiation and support, gestational diabetes and pre-diabetes. Includes assessment with a Certified Diabetes Educator for a medical history, a brief physical exam, and goal setting for behavior changes. Follow-up care with a dietitian or RN for weight management, blood glucose control, and progress toward goals. Private instruction with an RN for insulin initiation, adjustments and management. Nutrition Counseling includes meal planning, carbohydrate counting, weight management, and incorporating meals and exercise. Day and evening classes are offered.

Support Group Diabetes - Fishersville, Augusta Health
Monthly meetings are held with informative talks about diabetes. Certified Diabetes Educators, Clinical Dietitians, Pharmacies and other staff members at Augusta Health are also available to speak with individuals who have been diagnosed with diabetes and their families. The group is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

A walk-in clinic for existing patients on Tuesdays. We also offer an Every women's Life Clinic. Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening program for women between 45 and 64 who meet eligibility guidelines. Call SLCC for more information (540)636-4325.
