Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children build meaningful skills — communication, social interaction, self-care, and learning readiness — while reducing behaviors that interfere with daily life. ABA works by breaking complex skills into smaller, teachable steps and using structured teaching strategies, positive reinforcement, and consistent practice to help children learn at their own pace.

VPAS' Emergency Services program provides one-time immediate financial assistance and other resources, including referrals to other public and private agencies to older adults who have an emergency need. Emergency Services may include payment assistance for medication refills, assistive devices, and utility and rent payments. Assistance is provided one-time, per year, per older adult age 60+, who must have an emergency need for help which endangers their health and/or well-being.

Connections ABA & Family Support Services Provides home-based and clinic-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children and adolescents under the age of 21 who demonstrate significant impairment in adaptive functioning that is related to either developmental delays or other health conditions.

Offers specialized information and referral in finding assistive technology products and rehabilitation equipment offered nationally and internationally.

Designed to prepare children for a successful transition into school, this program covers essential skills such as social interaction, routine following, and communication.

EPIC supports infants and toddlers, ages birth up to 3, with disabilities and/or developmental delays who live in Hampton or Newport News. A family-centered program that provides information and support to families of infants and toddlers between the ages of 0-3 with developmental delays. Free developmental screenings are provided for any child living in Hampton and Newport News under the age of 3. Staff help develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), which includes the family's needs, preferences, and concerns regarding their child and their family. Each child/family is assigned to a Service Coordinator at the time of the referral/intake. The support coordinators then set up the tailored therapy sessions with the families to ensure the child reaches their full potential.

Provides non-emergency medical transport in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. MTS serves a varied clientele, including senior citizens, wheelchair users, ambulatory patients, children, and individuals requiring stretcher transport, consistently striving to provide a seamless experience from pickup to destination across various medical facilities, doctors' appointments, care institutions, and private residences.

Fixed route services are available to the general public. Offers deviated fixed route bus transportation on a set route to anyone in Covington, Clifton Forge, Iron Gate and Alleghany County, Virginia. Customers must wait at the bus stop for pick up. Accessible transportation for people with functional disabilities is available upon request with a completed and approved Americans with Disabilities Act Paratransit Eligibility application prior to transport. Will deviate from the route up to .75 mile off of the fixed route.

CLB provides hands-on training in the use of assistive technology as well as computer training classes, consulting with employers and working with employees experiencing vision loss to continue doing their jobs.

Provides public transit for Abingdon and Washington County. This service includes shopping routes, and transportation to congregate nutrition sites operated by District Three Senior Services, and town transit in Abingdon.

Offers an array of services for cancer patients and their families. Screenings, diagnosis, education, support groups, and resource referral are just a few ways assistance is offered for patients.

Provides clinical and educational services. VIA currently provides the following services: The James C. Hormel VIA Day School is a year-round, day-school program licensed to serve students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder between the ages of 2 and 22. Provides students with a comprehensive education and clinical program designed to address the core symptoms of autism and related learning issues. A multidisciplinary faculty develops individualized education programs for each student. Students receive daily one-on-one instruction from instructors, as well as supervision from an Behavior Analyst. Students' parents and caregivers receive additional support and training to implement practices in the home. In addition, families are supported by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps families and caregivers access additional support and community resources. The Outpatient Behavioral Services program provides evidence-based behavioral therapies designed to address the continuum of needs exhibited by children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. Services are designed to address the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder along with many of the associated challenges. Depending upon a client's needs, behavior therapy is provided in their homes, communities, and/or VIA's specialized clinic.

Support groups for caregivers, family, and friends of people with Alzheimer's or other dementia.

Provides public transportation, serving Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, Dayton, Bridgewater and Augusta County residents and business destinations.

Provide no-cost adaptive mobility and communication equipment, educate pediatric clinicians, teachers, and caregivers, and promote responsive and responsible public health policy.

Provides a support group for persons with Parkinson's disease and their family/caregivers.

New Freedom provides transportation to non-emergency medical appointments, pharmacies, and grocery stores for individuals with disabilities. Trips are provided in accessible vans. New Freedom is one of several transportation programs offered by CVACL for the population it serves throughout Central Virginia, which includes older adults. Individuals, families, and caregivers are encouraged to contact the agency for more information about available transportation services.

Areas Served: Cities of Hampton, Newport News. To design and implement an interagency, community based, family-centered system of early intervention services for infants and toddlers w/disabilities, ages birth to three years old, and their families. Typical services include: physical, occupational, and speech therapies, family training and counseling, and special instruction services.

Long-Term Care Skilled nursing facility with 97 beds.

Campbell County Public Schools provides for a free and appropriate public education for all children with disabilities, ages 2-21 inclusive, who reside in Campbell County and are highly mobile such as homeless or migrant, reside in Campbell County, including wards of the state, who are not home-schooled or attending a private school; and attend a home-school or private school which is located within the geographic boundaries of Campbell County. Special Education and related services are available for persons who have disabilities in the following areas: autism, deaf-blindness, developmental delay, deafness, hearing impairment, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, emotional disability, severe disability, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, and visual impairment. In addition, free and appropriate public education services are available under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and it's supporting regulations for any qualified child with a disability who: (1) has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities; (2) has a record of such an impairment; and (3) is regarded as having such an impairment.

The purpose of this program is to provide temporary hearing aids and FM systems for children with hearing loss, who are under the age of 18, while they are awaiting to receive their personal amplification devices. Family must be in process of obtaining, or making arrangements to obtain, a permanent amplification system through insurance or other mean. Six months is the standard length of the loan.

The Independence Fund's Mobility Program provides wounded Veterans the chance to regain their independence through the use of all-terrain wheelchairs.

Provides assistive devices to individuals with sight and hearing impairment(s) who meet financial eligibility criteria. Also helps the needy obtain eye examinations.
