System of supports and services designed to promote the greatest possible developmental outcomes for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities. The system is established in accordance with IDEA, Part C-Early Intervention.

Offers assisted transportation services to the elderly and disabled for medical needs and for shopping/errands. Offers transportation to medical and support services to those living with HIV/AIDS. Provides rides through volunteers.

The CSB provides support for people with developmental disabilities in the community, through support coordination, day support, employment and residential services.

Area Served: Counties of Brunswick, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Cities of South Boston, South Hill. The Infant Development Program provides intervention services for families, infants, and toddlers birth to age three who have diagnosed or suspected delays in development.

The NFBV Braille Enrichment for Literacy & Learning (BELL Academy) provides children ages 4-12 with Braille instruction through fun, hands-on learning activities. The program targets blind and low-vision children who do not receive enough Braille and nonvisual skill instruction in school or who could benefit from Braille enrichment over the summer. In addition to crafts, games, and other engaging projects, children learn vital independent living skills, benefit from peer learning and mentoring from blind and low vision adults, and enjoy field trips that reinforce skills learned in the BELL classroom.

The Center for Family Involvement works with families to increase their skills as advocates, mentors and leaders so that families, children and young adults with disabilities can lead the lives they want. Provide emotional, informational and systems navigational support.

Provides eye exams, eye glasses and hearing aids for needy children and adults in the community. Provides other assistance for special cases as needed.
