VPAS' Emergency Services program provides one-time immediate financial assistance and other resources, including referrals to other public and private agencies to older adults who have an emergency need. Emergency Services may include payment assistance for medication refills, assistive devices, and utility and rent payments. Assistance is provided one-time, per year, per older adult age 60+, who must have an emergency need for help which endangers their health and/or well-being.

PATHS Community Medical Centers provide comprehensive primary health care to those local to the Dan River Region. Hayes E. Willis Health Center serves residents of South Richmond communities, providing families with low-cost health care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

The NNMFHC Medical Clinic is open to those with incomes of 400% or less of the federal poverty level who are uninsured, under-insured, or on Medicaid. Services provided: Chronic & acute care Nephrology Urology Specialty referrals Laboratory tests X-Rays/CT scans Nebulizer treatments Flu & pneumonia vaccines Sports physicals Patient education

Helps eligible area residents access affordable prescription medications offered by major pharmaceutical companies. Eligibility is based on residency, income, lack of prescription coverage, etc.

The Behavioral Health Department provides counseling, psychiatry, medication management, substance use and community health services.

Emergency services program assist low income, elderly clients with utility terminations, the purchase of prescription medication and similar emergencies that arise. Financial assistance is available one time per year per person and is restricted to low income area residents aged 60 and older in the City of Fredericksburg and the 4 surrounding counties. Assistance up to $100 once a year. This agency helps with the last $100. If bill is more that $100, will need client to bring proof of pledges from other organizations.

Pay for eye exams and eyeglasses. Pay for hearing aids; depending on cost. Hearing aids are processed according to what the client needs, according to their doctor.

Emergency financial assistance is available to registered GoochlandCares clients for rent/mortgage, utilities, heat and other needs in certain situations. When families seek financial assistance, they are required to meet with one of our financial counselors.

The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) provides medicine used to treat HIV/AIDS to individuals who have limited or no health insurance coverage and low incomes.

Web site and call center have extensive database of discount or free prescription medications available according to eligibility requirements. PPA determines which program to refer to based on inquirer responses to questions about eligibility, trying to get the least costly alternative. Program takes approximately two weeks from the time the caller completes and returns a form sent to them in the mail or downloaded over the Internet.

Nonprofit community health center that offers affordable and comprehensive medical and pharmacy services (services vary by location). Accept most insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid and HMOs, and offer all services on a sliding scale based on family size and income.
