CSHD’s Car Seat Safety Program offers free car seats to those who meet certain eligibility requirements.

The District participates in the Virginia DMV car safety seat program that includes provision of the car seat and hands-on instruction for use based on an income eligibility basis. Educational programs on various health-related issues can be scheduled through the district for groups and civic organizations.

Child safety seats are free to income-eligible families, BabyCare Home Education Program.

Administered by the Resource Mothers who provide car safety seat education and distribute free child safety seats to eligible low income families.

Provides pregnancy testing, pre-natal care and routine well child care. Offers education about pregnancy and parenting. Other women's health services include birth control, pap smears, breast and annual exams. Provides required childhood immunizations. Car seats are available for Medicaid eligible infants and children.

Takes applications for children's car seats for individuals who are eligible for Medicaid or meet income limits, and who are in the last trimester of pregnancy or have a child under 12 months old.

The Sheriff's Office will inspect installed child safety seats or instruct on proper installation.

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office has officers certified to inspect the installation of child safety seats. These officers are able to assist citizens with understanding the operation and conduct an inspection of child safety seats.

The Vienna Police Department will perform car seat inspections at the Police Headquarters. This service is available for town residents only, and on an appointment-only basis.

Officers who have been trained in the proper installation of child safety seats will assist in installing a child seat.

BLOOMS: Care navigation from maternal and child health specialists who can connect with other health department and community resources as well as provide guidance and education. Baby Care: Education and case management services provided by a registered nurse to pregnant women and infants up to 2 years of age who are Medicaid eligible. Resource Mothers: A special mentoring program for first time pregnant or parenting teens. Teens will receive education about taking care of themselves and their infants up to one year of age. Teens will benefit from assistance with setting educational goals, accessing healthcare, and planning for the future care of their infant. Car Seat Program: Free, new car seats, including infant convertible seats and booster seats for older children, are available to families who qualify. Parents must attend a short instructional session to learn the correct placement and use of the car seat or booster seat.

Pro-life resource for pregnant women. Free pregnancy testing, health and nutrition counseling. Promote abstinence and alternatives to abortion. Offers help to women, families, and unborn children through the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy. Serve teens and adults, both married and single. Services include free and confidential pregnancy tests, parenting classes, Bible studies, mentoring, new mothers classes and referrals to other agencies. Provide baby clothing up to age 5, baby formula, baby food, maternity clothing, cribs, car seats for children up to age 4. Services are not limited to new mothers. Assist families in need.
