Homework Help is held at least four days a week at all four community centers. Staff, interns, and volunteers are available to assist students with homework and other academic work. The primary focus is to serve first-generation low-income students through in-school workshops and educational awareness excursions. Middle school students are provided career awareness and exploration opportunities. The program builds on the services provided to high school students by continuing to explore career awareness and exposing them to different post-secondary educational opportunities. Youth Work Experience Coaches to Ensure Success The Goodwill Youth Work Experience program provides work experience and vocational activities to youth, ages 14 to 21, who are economically disadvantaged and at-risk. The program focuses on areas such as developing work maturity skills, writing a resume, interview skills, problem solving skills, and support services. Youth are referred to the Youth Work Experience program by community and state agencies or the local school systems. The program is funded through the Children's Services Act (CSA) and local or state government. The Youth Work Experience program provides: Paid work experience Transportation Leadership development Supportive services Occupational training skills Follow-up services Benefits of the Program Work within the home community leads to understanding of the importance of giving back. Referral from appropriate agency ensures program outcomes match with youth's needs. Provided transportation ensures participation. Paid community work experience is an educational stipend. NMFA scholarships are one-time/year awards averaging between $500 - $2500. The amount can depend on our donors and your educational or professional need. Offers a community based mentoring program that addresses the problems of unequal access to higher education by low income and/or potential first generation college or post secondary students. Skyline CAP offers this program in collaboration with Madison County High School. In the local program, Skyline's Project Discovery students meet for workshops once a week to explore their options for life after high school. Participants are encouraged to take the hardest classes in which they can do well, and be involved in school and community activities. They also have the opportunity to visit at least three colleges or trade schools each year. College bound students are also encouraged to apply for at least twenty scholarships.

The primary purpose of the Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan Program (VTSLP) is to provide financial support to students who are preparing to teach in one of Virginia's critical shortage teaching areas. Provides an incentive to students interested in pursuing a teaching career in critical shortage teaching areas in Virginia. Students who are currently enrolled on a full- or part-time basis in a Virginia approved teacher preparation program in a critical shortage teaching area are eligible to be nominated for the program by their college or university.
