Offers free basic skills instruction to adult students,18 and older, living in the counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell in Virginia. Programs are designed to meet the needs of adults who have not completed high school. Classes are offered in Adult Basic Education/Pre-GED and GED preparation. All classes are free and are conveniently located throughout the region. Offer several certification classes including CNA, Welding, Paraprofessional and ServSafe. Also offer workforce preparation classes, financial literacy, computer skills and the National Career Readiness Certificate.

The ACE Center at Highland Springs prepares students for employment and further education. One or two year block courses in skill-based programs are offered to Henrico County students to prepare them for job entry skills.

Provides a summer employment program, Teens at Work, to enable young teens to work at area businesses and non-profits. We provide job experience, vocational training, and incentives.

The purpose of LIFT is to provide apartment-based Independent Living and Support Services to help foster care youth, ages 17-21, transition from residential care to independent living. Youth receive housing, vocational and educational services, life skills training, therapeutic services (counseling, therapy and/or substance abuse education), and the development of a network of support services in the community. LIFT is licensed for 25-beds for males & females transitioning from the foster care system to independent living in the community.

AVR offers twelve Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that provide students with the necessary skills for higher education or the work-force. Students have the opportunity to earn both a High School Diploma and a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificate.

Provides students education and training with skills needed to prepare them for the workforce or for post-secondary education. Courses offered include: agriculture, auto body repair, building maintenance, building trades, business, child care, cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, drafting, electricity, family science, horticulture, marketing, networking, nursing, small engine repair, technology, and welding.

Burton offers in-depth study not available in other classes; hands-on experiences, integrated curriculum, enriching experiences, travel opportunities, specialized training and internships. Many programs offer dual-enrollment. Most first year students miss only one class at their base school while earning two credits at Burton.

Provides vocational and technical training for high school students and adults. Offers adult continuing education programs in cooperation with Alleghany Highlands Public Schools and Covington City Schools.

Youth Work Experience Coaches to Ensure Success The Goodwill Youth Work Experience program provides work experience and vocational activities to youth, ages 14 to 21, who are economically disadvantaged and at-risk. The program focuses on areas such as developing work maturity skills, writing a resume, interview skills, problem solving skills, and support services. Youth are referred to the Youth Work Experience program by community and state agencies or the local school systems. The program is funded through the Children's Services Act (CSA) and local or state government. The Youth Work Experience program provides: Paid work experience Transportation Leadership development Supportive services Occupational training skills Follow-up services Benefits of the Program Work within the home community leads to understanding of the importance of giving back. Referral from appropriate agency ensures program outcomes match with youth's needs. Provided transportation ensures participation. Paid community work experience is an educational stipend. Four to one ratio ensures personalized attention. Services are provided as needed in a variety of community settings at times that are agreeable to the youth and his/her family.

ACE Center at Hermitage provides career and technical education programs for all students, to assist each student in reaching his/her potential, and to prepare students to be responsible and productive citizens in an ever changing technological world. H.T.C. offers 21 career and technical education programs.

Provides educational opportunities as a two year institution of higher education. Offers Associate Degree, one year Certificate programs, distance learning, and job training programs.

Community College providing young adults exiting the school divisions and adults already out of school with opportunities to acquire independent living, self-advocacy and employment skills in an integrated college environment. The program is sponsored by various community agencies.

Career and technical education for high school students. Offers instruction in auto body repair, auto mechanics, cosmetology, data processing, electronics, food services, health occupations, TV communications, masonry, welding, utility/heavy duty construction technology, carpentry, emergency medical technology, computer network administration and PC technology. Adult education is also offered through the Pruden Center.

Vocational program for high school students and adults. Offers: auto collision repair, automotive technician, diesel mechanics, small engine repair, carpentry, masonry, electricity, computer technology, cosmetology, criminal justice, welding, graphic arts, LPN, dental assistance, pharmacy assistance, pre-vocational program (for 9th grade only). Achieve assists people with disabilities or disadvantages achieve greater independence and self-esteem through vocational training and employment.

Adult and Community Education offers a wide variety of courses, certificate programs, and career training to adults and children.

Provides a jointly operated vocational education center offering courses to high school students and adults. Adults may enter some day programs if space is available. Evening programs include apprenticeship classes/adult education programs.

The goal of the program is to prepare unemployed, underemployed, previously incarcerated persons, and homeless adults for careers in the foodservice industry. The 14-week Culinary Curriculum covers all facets of work in a professional kitchen. The program includes "hands-on" training instructed by an ACF Culinary Coordinator.

Provides regular education programs for grades kindergarten through twelve and special education and vocational programs for ages two through twenty one. Provides vocational technical and adult GED education programs. Offers continuing education opportunities. Facilities are available for community rental.
