Education - Danville, Teen GED Pathways, Danville Public Schools

Students needing an alternative path to a high school diploma through this program. Students participate in GED studies, career exploration, and work readiness two afternoons a week. Attendance is a requirement until age 18. Students must also complete a job training program or work adjustment training through the Department of Rehabilitative Services.

Middle Peninsula Regional Adult Continuing Education provides instruction to adults to improve basic academic skills (reading, writing, and math), GED Preparation (for high school equivalency) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Middle Peninsula Regional Adult & Career Education (R.A.C.E.) is a Consortium made up of the public school systems in the counties of Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, and Middlesex, and the Town of West Point. Literacy - Williamsburg, Literacy for Life

Literacy for Life provides individualized, one-to-one and small group tutoring and classes for adults in reading, writing, math , ESL, VPT Preparation, work skills and health literacy. The program also supports learners pursuing high school completion through the General Educational Development (GED) Test and National External Diploma Program (NEDP). Literacy for Life's offsite program provides classes taught by professional instructors at area businesses, nonprofit agencies, and public schools.

Alternative School and GED - Boydton, Mecklenburg County Public School

Mecklenburg County Public Schools offers an alternative school program to assist students who are unable to complete their education in a traditional manner in the public school setting. Students referred to the alternative school will continue their academic classes using NovaNet. NovaNet is a computerized, web-based curriculum that meets the Virginia Standards of Learning. The Secondary GED preparation program is an option for students 18 years of age and younger who require a nontraditional program because they are academically at-risk and/or a potential dropout. This program is designed to provide students with the academic knowledge necessary to pass the GED test.
