Garden of Hope Adult Basic Education (ABE)program provides free instruction in all subjects covered on the General Education Development (GED)exam. This includes morning and evening classes, free books and materials, pretesting, practice GED tests, post-GED test guidance and a convenient testing center. This program is open to the public.

Provides general education services for grades K through 12 and special education services for ages two to 21. Provides GED classes an examinations where appropriate. Summer school is offered. Continuing education and vocational technical training is offered to students and to community citizens. School facilities are available for rental by community organizations.

In keeping with the overall mission of Valley Vocational-Technical Center, the adult program strives to offer up-to-date training in keeping with community demands. The success of the program is evident by the average annual adult enrollment the center experiences. Many employees in local businesses, industries, and agencies received their job training at Valley Vocational-Technical Center. Local businesses and industries continue to be highly involved in the on-going development of the adult program. The ever-increasing level of technology demanded by today's work-place spells a bright future for adult training at VVTC. Martinsville Adult Education Program provides comprehensive services to learners 18 years of age or older who are not enrolled in a K-12 school. Adult Continuing Education offers GED classes and tests, English for Speakers of Other Languages classes, workforce training and enrichment classes.

WDS prepares the emerging workforce by providing students with greater access to career options; serves employers through flexible and customized training; and, offers portable skills and credentials to the the incumbent and displaced workforce.

Mecklenburg County Public Schools offers an alternative school program to assist students who are unable to complete their education in a traditional manner in the public school setting. Students referred to the alternative school will continue their academic classes using NovaNet. NovaNet is a computerized, web-based curriculum that meets the Virginia Standards of Learning. The Secondary GED preparation program is an option for students 18 years of age and younger who require a nontraditional program because they are academically at-risk and/or a potential dropout. This program is designed to provide students with the academic knowledge necessary to pass the GED test.

The Institute for Early Learning offers professional learning opportunities for educators working with children. Courses, workshops and online sessions provide educational opportunities that support quality learning experiences and quality learning environments for children of all ages. These continuing education classes also help meet professional development requirements for permitting and licensing.
