The Legal Aid Justice Center partner with tenants and community organizations to fight for affordable housing, reasonable housing conditions, racial justice in housing, and equitable housing policies. Services include representing tenants facing eviction and in other landlord/tenant disputes, organizing with tenants experiencing unfair conditions, and advocating for better housing policies across the state. We have a particular focus on supporting tenants in public housing.

Clients may be provided with either information or case consultation. Issues include: Power of Attorney documents, advanced medical directives, public benefits such as Medicaid, and Living Wills.

The Commonwealth's Attorney is responsible for the prosecution of criminal offenses in Page County. The office prosecutes all felony, misdemeanor and traffic charges brought in the county and oversees the Victim/Witness Office.

Works to end the criminalization of poverty in Virginia by exposing and addressing criminal legal system policies that target people because of poverty and race. Through a mix of community organizing, local and statewide policy advocacy, and litigation, our program intervenes at many points in the criminal legal system. Our campaigns range from initial law enforcement contact in the community, through the courts, to individuals' confinement in Virginia's jails and prisons, and finally to their reentry into the community.

The Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc. (VLAS) is a non-profit law firm that provides legal information, advice, and representation in civil cases to low-income individuals and families in Central, Southside, and Western Tidewater Virginia. VLAS uses legal skills to solve problems in such areas as housing, healthcare, public benefits, economic self-sufficiency, education, consumer purchases, and family relations.

Provides quality legal assistance to low-income persons who reside in the Williamsburg area in civil matters. Applicants for service should contact the agency's Intake and Referral Unit or visit the nearest service office to be screened for eligibility.
