Provides a Teen dating violence education program, SARA Teens. Serves all area teens by having the teens themselves provide a forum for awareness, discussion and education regarding relationship and sexual violence and harassment, and encourage healthy relationships among their peers. Peer education can be a highly effective teaching tool; after all, teens do listen to other teens. SARA Teens members have completed over 20 hours of training in violence issues, in addition to learning active listening skills and how to provide accurate information and make appropriate referrals. Peer educators are discussion facilitators, not counselors. SARA Teens members will help their peers develop a greater understanding of these issues through presentations and the creation of awareness campaigns in their school and community. For the SARA Hotline, please call (434)977-7273. For the Toll-free Nationwide Hotline, please call (800)656-4673.
