The Sheriff's Office is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the jails and courthouses and serving civil process and court ordered documents.

The Court Security staff is responsible for maintaining order and proper decorum in all courts. The Prince William County Deputies assigned to Court Services are responsible for inmate transportation and courtroom security. Our Court Security Staff are also responsible for assisting the public.

The Courthouse Security Unit is responsible for the overall security of both the new and Old Courthouse, prisoner transportation to and from the Courthouse, prisoner escorts in and out of the nine courtrooms, the operation of the prisoner holding facility and the Courthouse's Central Control. This unit also maintains and operates x-ray machines and metal detecting equipment at the screening checkpoint of the Courthouse.

The Petersburg Sheriff's Office make certain that all court operations are safe and secure, and to guarantee timely and accurate service of civil and criminal warrants.

Responsible for courtroom security, transporting prisoners and serving legal papers.

Maintains 24-hour security of the judicial center and Circuit, General District and Juvenile & Domestic courts. Also Impanels juries. Guards prisoners and takes custody of persons remanded to jail. Maintains courtroom order. Serves civil processes, supervises evictions, enforces orders of the court.

The Court Services/Civil Process Division provides a variety of services such as court security, prisoner transportation and the processing of all legal civil procedures.

The Richmond City Sheriff's Office is responsiblefor the John Marshall Courthouse, Marsh-Manchester Courthouse, and Oliver Hill Courthouse. RCSO provide security to all courthouses, all courtrooms and judicial areas in order to protect the integrity of the court, protect the rights of individuals, deter those who would take adverse actions against the court or its participants, and maintain the decorum of the court.

Judicial and Special Operations is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Alexandria Courthouse, and for performing the legal process and court bailiff functions. A second line of defense, Judicial and Special Operations Deputies further serve the City by providing secondary law enforcement services.
