The ANCHOR Commission is a governmental entity which oversees a Group Home / Shelter Care facility for male teenagers who are court involved and referred - 12 to 17 years of age. Other services provided for all youth are: Outreach Detention and GPS Monitoring, Seven Challenges and Brief Challenges substance use programs, Aggression Replacement Training (A.R.T.), Co-Parenting: Two Parents, Two Homes (custody) class, Transitional Day Program (TDP) and Lee Ford Camp Recreational Facility.

A statewide re-entry program for ex-prisoners. Provides both pre-release and post-release education, counseling and direct services in the areas of employment, housing, family and community relations, food, transportation, legal/medical referrals and rights restoration. Pre-release workshops are conducted in prisons throughout the state. This program uses volunteers. VA CARES Program provides bus passes for their clients.

Deputies assigned to Jail Security and Jail Services maintain the safety and order of the facility. Deputies provide security to the community by preventing jail disturbances or escapes. Jail Services provide programs and services to the inmate population to include laundry, recreation, visitation, property control, mail delivery, religious services, a wide range of mental health/substance abuse services and education.

The City Jail houses men and women inmates sentenced to incarceration from any one of the three courts serving the City: Juvenile and Domestic Relations, General District, and Circuit Court. Contracts with the United States Marshals Service and the United States Bureau of Prisons to hold federal prisoners.

Provide quality educational programs that enable incarcerated youth and adults to become responsible, productive, tax responsible, tax-paying members of their communities.
Staff and volunteers from the Bridge Ministry will visit the local jails to share information about the Bridge Ministry program and conduct interviews with potential students. Men accepted into The Bridge Ministry program cannot have a record that includes violent or sexually-related crimes. Men who abide by the rules and regulations of The Bridge Ministry program, and, in the judgment of the staff are making suitable progress, can live in the dormitory up to 18 months at the Buckingham Campus. The client may also be offered the opportunity to spend the last 6 months of the program at a Bridge Ministry Intern House in Charlottesville while transitioning back into the community. The program provides an intense schedule of Bible training, character instruction, work training, drug counseling, financial management skills and educational opportunities. The Center is a secure, pre and post-disposition institution for adolescents who are being held for the juvenile courts of Northern Virginia.
Provide building blocks for stability, self-sufficiency, and community responsibility through providing training in and opportunities for individuals (primarily ex-felons) to learn and practice job and life skills, to develop emotional competencies, and to assume community responsibility. At the end of our twelve-month program each participant will be given support in finding a job or in opening his own business. Throughout the process, participants are challenged to develop a commitment to family, to community, and to community service. ***This agency is unable to help with utility bills or with free furniture.***
VA CARES (Community Action Re-entry System) is a member of a statewide re-entry program for adult prisoners and returning citizens released from Virginia's state institutions and local jails. This program is operated by People Incorporated of Virginia. Program services include: information and referrals to meet immediate needs, such as: food, clothing, medical care, and housing. Assistance is provided to help program participants obtain jobs through job readiness workshops. Participants in these groups are provided job leads. Peer groups are also provided to help to returning citizens make connections and address barriers to reunification and community engagement.

Gateway Academy The Gateway Academy is an opportunity for eligible residents to gain knowledge in workforce readiness, life skills and vocational training to obtain an industry recognized credential. The goal is for participants to complete the initial Academy tasks which will prepare them for the vocational training experience. Upon completion of the required tasks, the participant will be eligible to have training fully funded with supportive services. The vocational training programs offered can lead to obtaining certifications and securing employment in this field. Participants will receive assistance with their job search and may be placed on volunteer sites to help build their skills, resume and networking. Services Available May include..... Reentry services provide pre and post release services with 6 weeks of classes in Thinking for a Change, employability, parenting, wellness and emotional literacy for men and women in the Reentry Programs at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail (ACRJ). also offer Transitional planning to individuals 30 to 45 days from release through collaboration with ACRJ, OAR and community agencies and organizations concerned with assisting inmates in a smooth transition home.
